Fedora needs blocking. Suggestion?
I have a curry felt JPD in need of a reblock, and am looking for options. I usually do this myself, but until now it has always been on old hats I wasn't concerned about screwing up. I won't send it back to the maker, but I do want a good Raiders block on it. Any recommendation? Thanks.

I would go with Steve Delk, if he can squeeze you in. His work is superb.

Yes, that would be by first choice, as would John, but I understand they will only do re-block on their own hats.

If LLS can't, check out Optimo in Chicago. The block won't be as screen accurate, but they can still bring an old hat back to life.

Re: Fedora needs blocking. Suggestion?
Sorry but I'm still digging though all the reblocks I have. I also want to put my time to people waiting for new orders. Another reason is. I have spent a lot of time reblocking hats that weren't my own. Putting my ribbon on others hats, repouncing others hats to improve them, to get my block shape. That's all fine and good but it almost takes the same time to reblock as it is to make a new hat. I'm at a point now. If you want my block shape, my pounce job,and the SA ribbon. I hate to say it but buy one of my hats.
I have had people buy four fed 4s and send them straight from hats direct to have me re-work them and put my ribbon on them. The same money would have bought one of my hats. I have worked on hats that want to shrink when I try and reblock them or bleed so bad I would want to pull out my hair.
I have to take steps to keep my lead times from getting out of hand. There are only a couple things I can do at this point before raising prices. The first thing is to stop taking reblocks for
other than my own label and AB's. I'll reblock AB' because we are doing biz together and I know I can reblock them without pulling my hair out.
Some time in the future if my lead times get cut down a bit ( I have my doubts) I will take reblocks again but that price will better reflect what they should be for the work.
I hope that helps to understand my madness

Re: Fedora needs blocking. Suggestion?
Thanks for contacting me, Weston. At this point in my hat making endeavor, I will do re-blocks (actuallly complete block changes) on certain hats. I know some folks have hats that they would like to have worked on, but don't have a place to go. Steve started out doing this alot until he opened his own line of hats. John, the same. But each have been set into a groove of making new hats and can not commit time to doing re-blocks as a whole. Honestly, sometimes it is best to just go with a new hat, but some folk can't do that or don't want to do that. I will work on re-blocks of selected types of hats, for now.
