Depends on how tall you are.

If 23 inches is long to you, then you must be short.

I am 6' 1" tall, and a jacket with a length of only 23 inches would just BARELY come to my waist!

Just like sleeve length, you can't make an assumption like that since no two people are exactly
the same size, height, weight, arm length, or have the same body structure. Or just like two people
who might be 6' tall, one can have a short upper body with long arms and long legs, and the other
person might have a long torso, short legs and short arms. They can both be the 6' tall, but one could
weigh 140 pounds and be a bean pole and one could weigh 280 pounds with a huge gut and no chest
and a big (Mod edit: don't skirt the word filter).

They are obviously different body styles, and thus would take totally different length jackets even
though they might both be 6' tall. So, a 23 inch long jacket on one might be fine, while the other one
it could be too short or too long.

Your statement might be true if every single person on this planet was built exactly the same, but
we are not. Thats why a 23 inch long jacket is long to you, and thats fine.

But like you said, if a 23 inch long jacket appears long on your body, it must just be your problem, as
it would be way to short for me and many others on the forum.

neutronbomb wrote:I'm man enough to say you're a good looking guy and that specific picture is supercool. No kidding. It's also a great picture of the jacket partially zipped and I think the texture shows excellent.

Trippy how the jacket is so versatile and especially when throwing in the different types of leather. To me the GB Expedition goat looks great with the dockers and button up casual office look. But, if you get a skin with a boat load of texture it would make a killer rock n rolla jacket. Yours even looks good with t-shirt and basketball shorts. And the best part is, since the chances are nobody's ever going to recognize it while wearing it by itself, it also becomes YOUR jacket.

Also in the beanie picture look at the drape and the hang. Did you say that was goat? because it's really draping like Indy's in the ROLA movie. I think you got the fit, look, drape, spot on. If you look in the jacket write-up at the picture of HF standing straight up and staring straight ahead, I think the drape and hang of your jacket is dead on. That's why I asked if you could post it again. It really rocks in that picture.

If you could never get another Indy jacket, I think you'd be ok with that one. Anyway, for me personally I love pictures of jackets that people have made into THEIR own without all the rest of the gear. I'm not saying I'm not into all the gear, but it's great to see unique individual looks too. Thanks for sharing. Super Coolzado!!

Thanx NB.good knowing that are more people out there who are more like me when it comes to say whats on their mind :D

yep this is westeds new soft goat which is shaved to a thin grade skin and then tanned like lambskin. its almost spot on to lambskin but the strength of steel. you really dont have to worrie about jacket. its my favorite hide from wested. it drapes really good. maby not 100% like lambskin but fairly good. thats why I want this skin in the LC style since it drapes more like the thicker Lambskin you see in LC.

yes I totaly agree about making the jackes into their own without all the rest fo the gear. Im really into gear but not for wearing, only the jacket and the shirt sometimes. the rest of the gear is stored in the closet. Its really cool to have.

Yeah, Mr. Holt sounds cool for some reason, or Mr. Holt, sir. Ok, well maybe that's just a little much. :) but since Michaelson sports a mustache maybe we can call him Mr. Michaelson, sir. lol. ok, sorry having too much fun entertaining myself, time to turn out the lights and turn in early tonight methinks.

Mr. Holt it is then...

maby Ill ask my Boss to change my nick from Indiana Holt to Mr.Holt.....does have a cool ring to it though ;)

No. I am not gonna distress it. It will be my jacket I take on everyday, working in it aswell, so it will see lots of wear...

I really do want a Temple of doom jacket, but I cant stand wearing nylon, it becomes TOO hot and frayes TOO quick..and since Peter isnt gonna change the lining in these jackets to a lovely breathy and stronger cotton silesia like the raiders have I wont get one...

I dont see the problem in changing the lining in the jackets if thats what the costumer prefers... anyways...his loss...

I was just having that discussion with someone the other day. Makes no sense whatsoever.. a CUSTOM jacket should be that.. custom. If you wanted a hot pink liner.. that's what you should get.

BUT

Oh well.

I could see not changing the specs so as to not get in the same situation as with the Raiders jackets (fan input changing the pattern) but since the big problem with this jacket seems to be lining, you would think changing that wouldn't be a problem.

The lining is not durable at all, so anyone who actually wears the jacket is going to have to get a new lining soon after anyway.

I guess it didn't look right to him...

Maybe the long collar isn't that practical after all?

Ahhh,

10 pages later and now I must comment.

Holt, please release your specs. I know you keep saying that the jacket is made for your body, that the specs are really strange, and that you don't want anyone to be disappointed if they copy the specs.....but I have to give you a story.

As many of you may know, I was once a special make-up FX artist. Many times I was asked to give demonstrations of face life casting to groups of make-up, and high school students. At first I was hesitant because it can be quite a dangerous thing to attempt if you don't know what you're doing. After a while however I realized that many of the people who wanted to see the demo, really didn't have any intention of ever trying to replicate it, they simply found it fascinating.

The people who did want to try this were also the type that understood that it takes a lot research to do it right. They understood that there are a lot of little tricks and secrets that can be the difference between a good cast, and a bad one. Eventually I realized that it wasn't my responsibility to be responsible for everyone else, and I had to let people make their own mistakes.

As someone who will be walking into Wested in a few weeks I would greatly appreciate it if you would be so kind as to post your specs so that I might borrow from them. I don't have your body type and because of that asking for the "Holt Special" would be just as detrimental to a well fitting jacket as asking for the "Harrison Ford measurements".

What I would like is a good starting point. I already have made some of my own decisions about what I would like in a jacket, but it would be great to see what you have come up with.

There is a part in a movie I once watched where a father, clutching his sons hand as he dangles over a cliff, reaching desperately for something of great value says, in a calm voice, "let it go..."

Holt....let it go! :)

Eric, does your Jacket have a sizing declaration beneath the Wested patch under the collar in the neck section. Mine have the same... I mean, they're tailormade, but also have sizings in it. I was always wondering about that.. :-k

Yeah, even the custom ones have sizing labels inside (usually!).

They grab the closest one so it is a nominal size.

So, I just realized that this jacket is 2 years old now. I have been wearing it pretty much all the time since I got it. its my go to jacket.

what can I say about the leather? its the best goatskin I have ever had. you can tell in the picture how much Lamblike it is. its incredible soft and drapy.

I was lucky to have my jacket made out of this batch of leather cuz today it is lighter in color. mine is a mid-dark brown. they only offer authentic and dark brown soft goat. but not the mid-dark color anymore (Peter told me this) which is very nice and very SA.

it has many disstress marks on it, you can't tell by looking at this photo but its there. I'll take some pictures of me wearing it soon.

the stithcing is the best I have on any wested jacket. its top shelf.

Holt, Hands down that is the best Wested I have EVER seen! If every Wested was like yours I think that we would porbably all have one. Nice pocket flaps. I think I have become obsessed with the shape of pocket flaps lately...

How about some more pics of this wonderful jacket. They should be archives so we can drool, daydream and fight over the their details...

Thanks. :TOH:

yes, I know what you mean Travis. its one of the best jackets I have seen to. I own many westeds. I mean many. and this one hands down is by far the best jacket I have from them. not only leather and attention to my specs but my god is it constructed like a top drawer jacket. there is one tear in the stitching which is 100% my fault. I played with something sharp and it came across the sewing thread and 4 stitchtes got cut. but, that was an EASY fix. othr then that all of the stiching is deeply sewn in the leather. its really protected.

I have a close up picture of the pocket and by that picture you really can tell how good its constructed.

there is only ONE other jacket that I know of that has the ''Holt'' specs and in horsehide. dont know about how good the stiching and construction are but the specs looks to be there. Whipdude has it and he wants to sell it. ???? I wouldn't. it was made shortly after mine. its a 42 and if you want a jacket looking almost like mine, pick it up. if it was a 44 I would pick it up myself.

yeah, I know... I ordered another jacket in the Holt specs a year later (dark lambskin) and it came out super awesome. it was IT. unfortunatley it came out to BIG and had to send it back. the replacement came out half as good. :( I busted that jacket by accident and thats why I try to get in contact with them. I need it fixed. or, if it unfixable I will get another to replace it. but I really want it to be made in the ''Holt'' specs.

here is a close up of the pockets top corner reinforcements. the reinforcements you see in the picture is made like this on every stress point I can find on the jacket. Like I said, this jacket is made different then other wested jackets I have. its made for USE. and that I like and THAT should be the standard on every jacket.

Hmm? it looks exactly like my two jackets , one too short for me.The short is 24.5 in the back they also has reinforced stitching everywhere and the Holt collar. My absolute favorite jacket. The only problem is that I would like a larger size for the winter so that I can fit a thick sweater underneath. But I dare not order another one from wested. If I knew that all the jackets came out the same I would make it O:)
Congratulations to the two years and a wonderful jacket![/b] :TOH:

Thanks my fellow viking.

we can not exactly know for sure if they used the Holt specs or not on your jacket because your was made so long after mine. (did you request the ''Holt'') I know whipdude has a jacket made shortly after mine and it looks pretty darn good.

I know your dark brown goat looks very very good but as you say it has slim arms. mine doesnt, it has wider baggier upper arms and that is a part of a ''Holt'' spec. Yours really looks to be having the longer collar which is an VERY important feature of getting the ''look''

one thing, I know I almost can say for sure that no other jacket has because Pete told me on the phone it was PAIN getting right and I dont think he would do it again (but they should make it a standard because thats what we want!!! :) ) I'm talking about the ''off the shoulder'' effect the original jacket has. the half shoulder seams ''wants'' to slip of your shoulders and down your back. The jacket just relaxes on the back of your shoudlers. I LOVE it. :D

but all in all I love your jacket. it is one of the best I have seen. yours and whipdude's. but I like your dark brown soft goat more. both jackets are specced awesome but yours has more correct hide for this jacket. I would love to see your jacket but in better pictures. color :D

I'm thinking of getting the replacement jacket (for the one I ripped the shoulder off) in either dark brown thick lambskin or dark brown soft goat.

My HH jacket was also made in November 2008, I think it looks similiar, however I didn't ask them to make it in 'Holt' specs. It also has baggier sleeves than my other one, WG from November 2009.
Holt, how many inches does the jacket have in chest? How much does it taper toward the bottom?
