Gentlemen,
Just for a change, how about the Henry with beautiful ladies.... they keep grabbing my hat, they just love to put it on or take pictures with me and the hat.

cooking for my lady (in black blouse) and female friends...

After seeing proof like this, I'm becoming more and more convinced that for many of our male (& single) C.O.W. Members, "Henry" might well become the best "wingman" they've ever had!

Yes Mitch, you see, Henry it's not custom made but it has its charm

You know, the ladies would look at you, say how beautiful hat you've got and ask about it. And You would tell the stories about Indy and how you passionate you are being a fan. And they would all say: "wow, you're such a kid... I wanna take a picture with you".

hahaha... you know Marc, one guy with a hat brings attention enough, now imagine 2 guys with hats (and very good ones)

I think my Henry's developing some side taper.

It's never been soaked and is usually stored in it's box or hung, anyone else had any problems?

I haven't had taper problems yet... but mine henry is still 5 months old.

Some of the hats from the early runs had this problem due to an error in the factory

You should contact Marc or Stefan about this.

I've just been comparing my Henry with photo's I've already posted in this thread and I think I'm just been paranoid it look's the same as when it was new so it's not a shrinkage. I watched Raiders last night and am happy again

In your mind it's easy to build up a caricature of the fedora, when you step back and study the real deal you see things differently.
I guess it's a steep learning curve and I'm still a newby.

I think it does have slight taper in the sides, but it's not shrinkage. Mine was always like that. I guess it's just the block shape.

To be honest, I don't see slight taper in the sides... judging by pictures of other hats like AB, ABdeluxe, Penmans and others... they're very similar in shapes and sides.
It all depends of the angle you see your hat (for pictures is even worse). From up, from down, from the right up, left down, and so on. Also, the light of the day that hits the hat plays a role in all this equation.
Just see the photos from the Peruvian idol scenes in Raiders. In different pics there's a impression that harrison's hat looks a bit tapered in the sides, in others is more mushroom looking. All depends the angle, light and colours.

Anyways, I think the Henry is a great hat, competing close to handmades. But, I wanted mine to have a bit of reverse taper/mushroom effect. So, I've decided to use the elastic band trick (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=39131&p=584772#p584772). I am not going for a SOC since I prefer the Peruvian scenes style, only I wanted a more mushroom raiders.

Will post pictures soon with the result....

Mine had slight taper, but it's supposed to be there. I think that the Raiders does have some taper, just not much. If you compare it to the CS block, it seems more apparent.

Gotta ask you: how long did you leave the hat with the elastic band? I also did not wet the hat too much, was affraid to mess with the felt.

I only wet the area directly under the elastic band and kind of hid it under the ribbon because it leaves a mark. I just wet the side opposite the bow, tightened the pinch so that it pleats into the under the ribbon, just on the one side and left it over night. I did this twice.

To make the bulge more pronounced, I wet the same side higher up the crown and stretched / worked it using a rolling pin, then left it to dry over night.

If you this though, you no longer have a dressy hat. For adventures only.

I also hid the elastic band under the ribbon but I opted for wetting both sides and the back. Then I pressed the sides and the back out from the inside using my hands. I did this process twice too.
I did not do it a lot though, just want it a slight bulge/mushroom effect something between a dressy hat and adventure one.

You did it all the way round, I see.

I was wondering if I should tighten the ribbon up on mine.

I further augmented the bulge above the ribbon by stretching the felt there. I should take some shots.

Compliments most appreciated. Yeah, i did all the way round except the front...i did not wet it. Then I brushed the hat and the elastic band marks were gone.

I did not tightened the ribbon, since i didn't stretch too much the crown so the ribbon still the right size for the crown.

Yes, post some pics of your henry, I would like to see ur results...

I was considering using the trick again and give the hat more bulge, but I guess the hat crown will get more bulge overtime since my henry is still 5 months old.

I couldn't resist it on mine, but remember; If you do, then it's wrecked as a 'dressy' hat and also if you do too much on it, it's re-block time. It can be tempting to just keep tweaking until eventually you've ruined your hat.

Just a consideration.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. Better to stick with a between dressy and adventure one.... otherwise will have to visit Stefan and Marc in Germany before the scheduled time

I actually had the suit custom made on my body specs. I had to choose the cloth first, and I choose one that matched the color of my AB the best

I planned to go as Indiana Jones to a halloween party. But my friends protested saying it's not a costume for me because it's part of me and my character. I loved to hear that

So, I've decided to go as a gangster...with a suit and the hat. Since I don't own a grey lid I went with my Indy brown one.

Look the mushroom shape of the hat as a result of the elastic band trick...I really liked, very boxy.
(If you can just look to the hat instead of the ladies of course)

Hi Dave,
I suppose you're referring to the hat sides. I just like it more the reverse taper looking.

Reading back my messages, I don't see where I wrote I was feeling like Indy. Anyways, I am not intending to be Indiana Jones, though I am a big fan I have my own style.

I wear the fedora and the jacket because I love hats and jackets, not to feel like Indy (ok, maybe a bit

). And I suppose most COW fellow members wear their hats for pleasure not a costume for parties or so.

Hey Ian,
I appreciate this... ít turned out that the brown hat went ok with the suit.

I only wear suits for really formal occasions, including my work. I guess that's the push for a grey Henry perhaps!!!
