Re: UDATE: Wings Striated Lamb—now with BISON SAMPLE
So that picture is of the darker cowhide compared to the naked/antiqued cowhide used in the Hero jackets. Do I have that right? If so, you've darkened up the cowhide considerably for the Legend. I also take it the photos posted earlier of Weston in his antiqued cow Legend was the same cowhide used in the Hero, no? If I have this straight then, any idea when we'll see a Legend in this new, darker cowhide?
Re: UDATE: Wings Striated Lamb—now with BISON SAMPLE
Yes the New Legend Cow is a dark rich brown But looks a lot like the Hero Naked Cow.. This leather is a very high end leather and should start shipping in one to two weeks.. I am sure the Fans won't be disappointed in the Look.. The feel and lastly the price!! BTW this will be the same Leather as our New Raiders Legend for Kids!Rick Deckard wrote:So that picture is of the darker cowhide compared to the naked/antiqued cowhide used in the Hero jackets. Re: UDATE: Wings Striated Lamb—now with BISON SAMPLE
Hello everyone
I saw this
http://www.uswings.com/ijlegend.asp#LGNDSL
and really liked how dark the striated lambskin jacket was. Is the color in those pictures accurate?
Is this the perfect Indy jacket?
What is the difference between imported and USA made? I am almost inclined to trust the imported better.
Are there alternatives to this from other companies?
Everytime I've tried a Wings jacket it was very baggy and oversized. If I usually wear large stuff should I size down to medium? Or are these naturally slimmer fitting?

Quick catch up. Us and imported should be the same except for inner facings on the import. Maybe better quality control from US? jacket supposed to be more fitted pattern than the other models. If you want striated lamb the only other options are TN for three times the cost or possibly Todd when he starts up his custom orders again. The only thing against the Wings offering is the zip on the wrong side. Hop that helps

a zipper on the left side? that is a little annoying. I have one on my hoodie so I might get used to it
what did you mean inner facings? the liner?
UDATE: Wings Striated Lamb—now with BISON SAMPLE
Leather facing on inside next to zip. helps to protect lining but spoils drape of jacket in my view.

Blueoakleyz, zipper on these jackets is on the right side. The original zipper in the movies was on the left, so having them on the right technically makes them "wrong," which is what DJD meant.blueoakleyz wrote:djd wrote:Quick catch up. Anyone know what the length and width of the pockets on these jackets run? I won't get into a debate as to whether the dimensions are "good" or "bad", I'll keep that to myself, but I was kind of interested in that info., I haven't managed to stumble across it in the discussions on the forum.

Sarge said he doesn't want to given them because other vendors would try to copy the Cooper pattern before his even hit the market. When they start to arrive then we'll all know and some one will post them. Until then, the few who have received them have been asked not to give specs for said reason.

Would love to see a Bison (and/or the Horse Hide) jacket. Any word on when we might see a sample of a finished jacket? Have we ever seen an indy jacket in bison before and is the color in the end going to be a pretty good match?
thanks

Re: UDATE: Wings Striated Lamb—now with BISON SAMPLE
I would like to see pics of the new dark cowhide Legend, have they shipped yet or are they in "the works" still?
Re: UDATE: Wings Striated Lamb—now with BISON SAMPLE
The Bison option intrigues me....hoping it will be offered in a non-distressed finish, perhaps like the Orvis flight jacket.
I'm not too picky as to the particular shade of brown.
I like the rich brown of my VIP jacket, but darker brown would be perfectly acceptable.
I like the cut of the new jackets, the fit looks good in the photos, but I don't want pre-distressed leather.
A non-distressed cow or goat option (as in the current Signature Series) would also be great.
However, after some thought, I decided I will be keeping my VIP, even if I do get one of the new Legends.
The fit on me is just so good, it would not be a wise move to part with it.

Sarge has said he's been trying to keep the thickness the same on the hero jackets. That said I'm sure the Bison and Horse are going to be the thicker of the 4(#?).

Oh that looks VERY nice! It is out of my price range though. But it does look like it would withstand being drug by a truck.
Is anyone getting one of these? It has good texture, good color and I really am diggin' the Legend look, even if it doesn't have silver colored zipper and sliders.
I guess it's time to say TATANKA!

Re: UDATE: Wings Striated Lamb—now with BISON SAMPLE
No doubt about it... that Bison is also a very, VERY cool looking leather!
Re: UDATE: Wings Striated Lamb—now with BISON SAMPLE
It occurred to me that the bison could also be viewed as a sort of "Indy Begins" jacket, from one of his earlier adventure, perhaps in the late 20's or early 30's, before the jacket had acquired so much wear.
Great looking jacket! The pictures make me think of a shorter and slightly modified version of my VIP jacket, which I hold in very high regard.
I like the shorter yoke, which should allow the bi-swing to work more freely, and the trimmer cut in the upper sleeves.
I hope US Wings sells a TON of these (including one to me).

From the reading I've done, bison is equal to or a hair above horsehide in tensile strength, due to the animal it's taken from.

No, you misunderstood me.
I'm saying it's STRONGER than or equal to horsehide, and therefore much BETTER in terms of strength vs weight for a jacket.
All in all, a better leather in my personal opinion.

Like I told you a while back, I've been aware of bison leather for several years after seeing and examining jackets made from the hide in speciality stores in Jackson Hole, WY.
I was HIGHLY impressed then, and never ever thought something like that would be available through one of our vendors.
I know G&B made a few out of water buffalo calfskin, but I never heard of any bison being attempted.
I'm glad to see you got hold of this leather. It's just amazing stuff, or at least the jackets I saw in Wyoming were.

Re: UDATE: Wings Striated Lamb—now with BISON SAMPLE
Ok, I'm seriously kicking the idea around on getting me a striated lamb, and as I read this thread I saw there was a 100.00 discount to COW members. Is that on all U.S. Wing jackets or on just one or two. Size looks to be a M size 40 would work as every jacket I've owned the sleevs could just be a tad longer so when the get all crinkly they'll still hang down by my top thumb nuckel.
Any one have a M in size 40 and could measure the sleeve length.
Man this jacket looks nice, how come there hasn't been more posted pic's, seems like this thread got hijacked on bison (which does look nice).

The reason no one else has posted pictures of theirs is that they are still being made. I've been lucky enough to feature the jackets because Sarge has been sending me his own personal jackets that are made for him and sent to him for final approval to photograph and submit for his website. He didn't send me the Bison though, and I'm going to have to wait like everyone else. That should tell you how much he likes the Bison; he's not about to part with it! As to the discount, as always, best to just ask them directly.Indiana Croft wrote:
