I was watching the show on DVD the other day and I noticed the fedoras. I tried looking online for any info and couldn't see any. The fedora in London 1916 looks alot like the LC fedora.
I was just wondering if anyone had any information on them. Were they recycled from previous movies? or were they specially made? and further more, if they were specially made for Flanery, do any still exist?

Re: Young Indy Fedoras.
As far as I know the Young Indy fedoras were bought around 1991 at Herbert Johnson especially for the show. The production date would explain the resemblance to some LC hats.
Some say they were stock Poets, which would explain the wider brim (maybe 3" or close to 3"), non-dimensional cut and the wider ribbon. But there is still some debate about how wide it actually was (some stock Poets had a 50mm or 45mm ribbon). I´ve seen some Poets which look really close the the ones in the show.
To my eye the fedora used in the London 1916 episode is a new one but with some distressing on the ribbon. I looked really close at the distressing of the ribbon through the entire show and came to the conclusion that (at least) some fedoras were used throughout all episodes. And these ended up in that very tapered and shrunken look we see in the third season, and even more in the additional filmed scenes from 1996.
I guess if one of these fedoras still exist they would probably look like these. Still I would love to see one as the YIJ fedora is one of my favourites.

Good questions EU, I also believe they were Poets but not 100% sure. I'd like to know more on the subject myself since it's my favorite Indy hat.

As I said earlier in the post, some of the fedoras look like they COULD be stock fedoras from Last Crusade. It seems that way in earlier episodes of SPF, including Mexico

Mmm, that sounds interesting. Which scenes do you mean specifically?

I checked the Barcelona 1917 episode again and you can clearly see the inside of the hat, its a Herbert Johnson

I´ve seen that too, and reportedly they were Herbert Johnsons.
