Re: What is your "Go To" jacket?
I would say that the Wested Custom Lambskin is my go to jacket. I have three that served very well over the years as my go-to jackets. Even in colder days I adopt the Billy Crystal method: "It is better to LOOK good than to FEEL good!"

I used to practice that....but as I've gotten older, I've reversed that quite a bit...I'd rather be warm than look good.

Several of you speak very highly of the G1 and I'm looking to diversify my leather jacket collection. Other than USWings and G&B, who makes a good quality, moderately priced G1? Not necessarily interested extreme historical accuracy. Thanks folks!
Re: What is your "Go To" jacket?
My all-time favorite jacket is my modified Aero Leather Highwayman. For riding in 55 degree weather and higher, it is my 1970's Schott Perfecto. A classic design. Below those temps, my Vanson Model B (House, MD).
Re: What is your "Go To" jacket?
Both would be where your money would be most well spent. You get a lot of value for the price with those 2.Bemo wrote:Several of you speak very highly of the G1 and I'm looking to diversify my leather jacket collection. Great looking jacket! I feel like I missed out on the soft goat. I ordered one after Peter got it in stock, but I got the older tougher goat...

My "Go To" jacket is my Wested CS novapelle with all of the perfect specs that I requested. Once I tried it on, I knew that I would never buy another Indy jacket again.
Re: What is your "Go To" jacket?
I'm afraid I'm gonna have to see more shots of that. You got any links where you've posted it before?whipwarrior wrote:My "Go To" jacket is my Wested CS novapelle with all of the perfect specs that I requested. Once I tried it on, I knew that I would never buy another Indy jacket again.

I guess I would have to say when I'm not wearing my Patagonia I'm wearing my Wested washed goat.

NO doubt about it, whipwarrior... that's a BEAUT!
Re: What is your "Go To" jacket?
Ian, I had a bunch of shots of the jacket last year, but I deleted them to make room for new pics before I upgraded to a Flickr Pro account. Here's a new batch that I took today: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9911326@N0 ... 914667589/

Re: What is your "Go To" jacket?
My "go to" jacket is the only leather jacket I own, my US Wings Naked Cowhide Hero. It has a nice LC vibe to it, and I love the fit. Very comfy. I'm contemplating picking up another leather jacket, and if I do I think it's going to be a US Wings G8:
After my Wested experience (wound up selling it after an exchange) and the Hero jacket that I like, I think it's time for a different leather jacket. Though I must say, the G8 does have a lot of Indy elements to it: side straps, bi-swing back, no knit-ribbing. And the G8 made out of goat, which I think is probably one of the most durable hides you can get.
If, however, I were to buy another Indy jacket, it would be either the G&B Expedtion - when I see pics of it, it just looks the part of a Raiders jacket - or a Magnoli LC.

This Thread is really starting to revv the engine on something I've known about myself for a while now:
If I win the Lottery tomorrow, it will be absolutely OBSCENE how much of my winnings I'll be spending on various jackets!

Regardless of our funds, Mitch, I think it is already of obscene for most of us. I'm approaching five Indy jackets alone. My point with this thread is, well, if you had to choose just one...Mitch LaRue wrote:This Thread is really starting to revv the engine on something I've known about myself for a while now:

Right now, mine is my Hero USW jacket.
After I distressed it and watered it down, it's the perfect "Raiders" for me IMO. (no snaps)
It's amazing what a Scotch-Brite pad and a little time can do for it. Besides, it fits me to a tee.

Re: What is your "Go To" jacket?
Yeah, it's still there, along with a review of the AB that I bestowed upon my best friend Jaimee as a birthday/friendship gift during our Indy adventure reunion back in February. She wore that fedora all over Europe and North Africa this summer, along with the MK-VI satchel I gave her that now functions as her full-time purse. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a beautiful vintage gal, and she tops 'em all!I remember enjoying the review you made on YouTube two years ago.
