What whipmaker is this from?

Post by BrandonA18 »

Hi all

I recently picked this up, which is similar in style to an Indy whip though I'm not sure it was mean to be an Indy whip per se.

Does anyone know who made this bullwhip?

Any help would be appreciated.

I feel like it has some qualities of whips that Adam Winrich has done, Looks like it is in the style from the crystal skull. My guess would have to be Adam but the thing that has me second guessing myself is the very thick ring knot.

Keep Crackin,

The 7x6 ringknot makes me think it could be one of Dusty Damrel´s whips from Crease n Corral. Here´s a link to one of his whips http://www.creasencorral.com/index.php? ... gory_ID=39
Cheers!

I didn't make it. My guess was Louie Foxx.

That looks like one of the Terry Jacka "Aussie" to "Indy" handle tranformations that Bernardo does every now and then.

I doubt that's a Jacka; look at how it quickly decreases in size after the ring knot and the sharp bend there...

It doesn't look like the work of any whipmaker I know. Sorry.

I'm for that one. On looks alone whoever is making these whips does their research when it comes to whips. I like the DL knot in the wrist loop on the IJ4 :D

It's not one of the Jackas I converted. Maybe Lauren Wickline made it? both the heel knot and the fall hitch look like her work.

I just got word from Dusty Damrel of Crease N Corral and he says it is not one of his, so the mystery continues!

Are there any additional photos that I could take that would help ID the maker?

This whip was actually used for a brief scene in the film "Inglourious Basterds" where Stiglitz is whipped. As the film was shot in Germany, perhaps the whip was sourced there?

Thanks for the assistance.

I guess the extra background info solves the mystery! Thanks for the link Indiana Bravo.

If the whip came from MidWestWhips, it was made by Lauren Wickline, definitely, as you likes to cut at a slant the free ends of the fall hitch, to differentiate here work from Paul's, as their style is virtually identical.

Boy, this whip was a tough one to identify! I'm glad I was right! \:D/

I am sure Paul or Lauren can confirm this for us.

Yep, I think Bernardo is right. I can't be completely 100% sure based just on the photos, but I'm fairly certain that it looks like one of the ones I made a couple years ago around that time for a company in Germany. They told us that one the whips they'd bought from us in that style was sold to the Inglorious Basterds folks when they were over there filming, so that makes sense! :whip:

Thanks for sharing the pics Brandon, and I'm glad it went to a good home!
