Hey Sergei, Any Info on the Whipmaker for Indy IV?

Post by Whipcrack »

Last night my youngest son Steve asked when is Indy IV coming out. I told him not until next year but that they are going to begin shooting it this summer. I then realized we are getting VERY CLOSE when my 10 year old can actually conceptualize a new Indy movie and the summer is only a few months off.

Checking the board here the last new news we had about the whipmaker for Indy IV was August 2003 when Vic Armstrong and Alex Green were the front-runners for Stunt Coordinator and Whip Guy. Surly those positions must now be filled as people have to be under contract well before shooting. I would also think that with the number of whips required to shoot this film that someone must have the contract to make the whips by now or is very close to getting it.

Sergei, if there was ever a time to get the straight story it is now. While there has been general interest in whipping here, there has been little talk about Indy whips. WHO IS MAKING THE WHIPS FOR INDY IV AND ARE THEY MAKING THEM AS WE SPEAK?

Thanks

All I know at this point is that production is now scheduled to start this September. The script is still not signed off. This is all from a conversation I had with someone that knows Vic and Alex.

Good news is that Zorro 2, w/ Catherine Zeta Jones - The Other Jones, will start this February with some significant whip scenes from Zeta Jones. Joe Strain is supplying these whips for Zorro 2.

Also, Halle Berry is the Catwoman which is filming as we speak. Alex Green is her whip coach and he just sent word that her whipcracking skills are very good right now. "She can do a mean horizontal crack, right now." She will be using various whips in the movie, but she will have a 4 foot black snake whip attached to her costume which will make it look like a cat tail. The whipmaker as well is Joe Strain.

That is all, I know. Really...

Is Banderas not signed for the new Zorro flick? Are we looking at a female Zorro now?

For Christmas I received the special edition DVD of "The Mask of Zorro." The movie is a blast but there is also a really good documentary on the disc that has a short section discussing Hopkins use of the whip. It goes by much too fast but I was excited to see that they took the time to point it out and to also make it a chapter.

Antonio is signed up, but Catherine is getting the primary role for displaying her whip skills. At least that is what the script calls for now and Alex is extremely excited. Geesh, Halle Berry and Catherine Zeta Jones in one year. Makes you want to think why you are typing in front of this stupid thing. :-)

When i spoke to david morgan the other day while ordering my whip, i asked him about this, he didnt have a definate answer, but leaned to the fact that he would be the whip maker.

Who made the whips for the mask of zorro movie?

I have seen none of the Zoro or Catwoman stuff. As an old guy I guess I got enough of that them with the old TV shows in the 60's and 70's. There does seem to be a reoccurring theme of Green and Strain though. Thanks for your input Sergei and please let us know when you hear who is making the Indy whips.

Thanks

The notion that it's being pushed back to September makes it seem all the more real while at the same time adds to my doubts that it's not going to get done.

No, it's going to get done Fisk, we are too far along. I know that when the floor usually drops out but not this time....... S&L&F are too far down the path to turn around, September is not that far off. #### I can remember when the DVD’s were years away.

Thanks

For the last Zorro movie both Strain and Morgan made the whips. All the closeups were the Strain, including the "candle snuffing" scene. The long shots with stunts were the Morgan's.

I hope you're right. But I'm discoraged. I guess I'm going to have to go on adventures on my own...
