Got my first Wested!! :)
Well, yesterday I went over to Wested Leather to see their jackets with the idea of getting one.
It was only one hours drive and was really easy to find.
I walked inside and peter walked over, took one look at me in my FedIV and said I had the hat but needed the jacket, so I told him I was looking to get one in Goat. He looked me up and down, said I was a 44 long and picked out a jacket for me to try on.
It fit like a glove! Perfect fit! I was amazed. Perfect length, perfect shoulders, perfect sleeves. I couldn't believe it.
He said it was a goat, but not the washed goat as he didn't have one in my size, just the 44 regular, and that I was lucky as he doesn't usually have many "longs" in stock. I looked over the washed goat but actually didn't really like the colour of it compared with the one I tried on (and was still wearing).
Then I mentioned that Laura, my fiancé, was after a ladies leather jacket like one of the ones on the website, so he took us both to the ladies jackets and Laura tried on various jackets, and eventually ended up trying an a Layer Cake jacket that fit her perfectly except for the sleeves being too long, so Peter said he would shorten them on Monday and mail the jacket to Laura so she would get it on Tuesday (I had mentioned we were looking for jackets to take on our Honeymoon as we are getting married in a week). That's pretty quick work and I was very happy. I paid for the jackets and we left. We were only there for 30 mins - I thought I would be there for an hour or two.
I eventually took the jacket off 14 hours later when I went to sleep (considered wearing it to bed, but it was too hot)
Now I know people will want photos, so I had Laura take a couple on her phone when we were out today.
In the photos the jacket looks very dark, almost black, but it's actually a chocolate brown colour, but with grey-ish/greenish tones instead of reddish tones. It looks completely different in different lighting and I really love it!
Thanks Peter & Wested Leather!
Joe

That looks really good Joe, and the fit seems to be great as well. Congrats to your new jacket!
It must be great to walk into the shop and pick up a new jacket, thanks for sharing this story!

Joe,
Looks like you got a really nice jacket and since it is goat, it will be even more durable. Good snag, there!

Very nice jacket. really like the collar and the backpanel. I would give it a light shower and wear it dry. it will break in, shape itself more to your body and get some nice grain.

Looking good Joey!
Now put some miles on it! If we get a sunny day wet down the outside and wear it whilst it dries it should help it wrinkle a bit and conform to you better.
I like how you titled this thread... but you already bought 2! Muahaahaa!

Joeyeah_right,
Great looking jacket (and it will be even better with time).
Enjoy!
Is it just me, or do the sleeve and yoke seems not line?
I've been noticing that some of the latest OTR Wested Raiders have been showing up with
with the correct, mis-aligned seems. I really hope they have made that a standard spec.

Re: Got my first Wested!! :)
yeah, noticed that too.
would be a very good thing if they made that a standard.

Re: Got my first Wested!! :)
That collar seems a little bigger, too. I like it. My OTR ROTLA has a smaller collar. That goat from Wested does feel nice, too, and the finish on it is awesome. I almost got one in LC the last time I went, but they didn't have one in my size. Nice looking jacket.

You know, my second Wested was llike that, which is great! My first one had the arm seem and inch ABOVE the yoke. Luck of the draw at the time.
NICE looking jacket!

For it's first adventure, it will be coming along with me & Laura on our honeymoon - Alaskan cruise sailing out of Seattle in a couple of weeks
Really looking forward to it!

Thanks Kwad You are correct, the sleeve and yoke do not line up. I was really pleased to see this on this jacket, it just made it that much better.kwad wrote:Joeyeah_right,

yes, their soft goat is one of my favorite hides from them. I really love it and it just keeps on getting better and better. you got much to look forward to with this skin.
Mine is very broken in and extremely soft. no rubbery feel at all as the goatskin is known for having that.

Let's hope that Wested keeps it up.
For some reason, the seem issue really bothered me about my Wested (mine lines up). Strange, but that 1" stagger in the seems really can make or break the back of a Raiders jacket.

Re: Got my first Wested!! :)
Those sleeves will ride just a bit with wear too, so the length looks dead on target to me.
That one will wear in well!
Be sure to wear it, and wear it often so it takes on your personality.
