Sahara Hat Club

Post by Indiana Jeff »

After seeing the Sahara hat Steve made for Michaelson I knew I had to have one of my own! =P~ Since that time there's been a few others in this color to come out of Steve's shop. And now I'm a member of the club! \:D/

Here's the specs:
the vintage block used for the gray travel hat in KOTCS
Camel color hatband from Steve's special stock, real wood based pure rayon hatband, made in the 30's to 40's
23 inch hat
5 1/2 inch crown
2 7/8 by 2 5/8 brim

These pictures were taken just hours after the hat came out of the box.

Thank you, Steve!! :TOH:

Looks like the same ribbon Steve used on mine. Looks great, Jeff. Wear it in good health. And Steve, great work as always.

I'll see if I can get some pics of my sahara AB up sometime this week.

Just glad it finally got to you! The only thing that I see that I would change is the brim needs to be tweaked a bit. If it were mine, I would pull the front down and then with one hand curl up one side and with the other, curl up the other side to get the brim even looking. The brim should be sorta like clay on this one, and it will require some attention, fiddling with it to get it to where it looks right. IMO of course. Thanks for showing it! I like how the bow turned out, as it looks real clean, which I always find attractive. Now if we can just get that brim looking right, I will feel much better! Welcome to the Sahari Club, which by the way is the same color as Josh Bernstein's old Digging for the Truth series that was on the History Channel. Nathaniel the Amerindian hatter uses the same felt supplier as LLS, John and I. Regards, Fedora

Thanks for the compliments!

TS, that's actually the club house in my housing complex.

I love the color combination of the felt and hatband.

Steve, I've been playing with the brim to get it down in the front and a little more curled on the sides. These pictures were pretty much fresh out of the box, but I couldn't wait to show it off.

Lookin' GOOD, Jeff!
:D
That hat - and it's great color scheme - has such great, distinctive character... looks very natural on you, too!

Thanks, Mitch.

I do love this hat. My colleagues have gotten pretty used to seeing me in a hat and I get the occasional compliment, but in the week I've been wearing this one, I've been getting, "Wow. Nice hat."

Indiana Jeff
