Looks really great, Weston. How's the fit compared to your previous Wings jackets?

Re: USW Raider #1. Take a look!
It's much more slim fitting than other Wings jackets. You can see from the pics how it tapers at the back, and the sleeves are much more snug fitting at the upper arm. Additionally, the action pleat is fully funtional; you can reach for the steering wheel and the sleeves stay at the wrists!Forrest For the Trees wrote:Looks really great, Weston. Re: USW Raider #1. Take a look!
Looks really good Weston. Only two questions: how's the length compared to the Hero and I assume there's no underarm gussets (since USWings have never had this feature)?
One observation, collar looks awfully big for a true Raider's. But I'm sure more those more steeped in Raider's specs will chime in.

I am quite impressed with the fit of the jacket. The back has a very sleek look. You definitely show it off well WEston.
I think the Striated Lamb will look amazing on this.

Great images, and great details. I like the tapered back. I'll definitely have to give this one some thought for lambskin. Good to see there are finally some detailed images of this jacket.

I really like that collar. The one thing that I don't like about my Gibson & Barnes is how narrow the collar seems ... especially in the back. It's never looked right to me.
The pockets looks really nice on this one too.
Congrats.
Just curious, what does the collar measure on your new jacket. I'd be interested to compare it to mine.
High Regards,
Chris

Great jacket.
I have had this jacket alittle while now and I can say it is a slimmer jacket. slimmer sleves and slimmer waist. The Large has the back stop at 25.5''

I'm thinking the same thing. No horse? so what happens to my order? also I think the price on the website changed. Or am I wrong? I thought I remember seeing it as 395.00 with the 100.00 discount for COW members. Any thoughts?

Re: USW Raider #1. Take a look!
Okay, obviously Wings has changed some of the particulars surrounding this release. I don't know anything, except what I can infer from their updated listing on the web, so here goes:
-Neil Cooper's name is no longer associated with this project
-The name has changed to the Legend jacket
-It is only available in antique cowhide or striated lamb
-The price is now $295 for everyone, not just COW members
-It is available now???
Like I said, I know nothing except what is now on the Wings site. Correct me if I am wrong...

Re: USW Raider #1. Take a look!
Nobody jump to conclusions. No one has said there still won't be 4 different hides.
Last I heard those 4 samples haven't been made yet, so only the 2 listed are available at this time.
Let's not start rumors....again.

Re: USW Raider #1. Take a look!
I'd recommend relaxing for a moment and wait for clarification. Here's what I gather from the correspondence I've read. They have taken the mention of Niel Cooper out as they don't want to jump the gun with Lucasfilm and the licensing. They were talking making this a separate offering and calling it "The Legend"; it does have interior facings and brass right hand zip for no other reason than that's Sarges preference plain and simple. To my mind, I would think of it as a "deluxe" or "VIP" Raider jacket rather than the film replica jacket. The only difference between the Legend, and what you guys ordered are the zip, and the interior.Forrest For the Trees wrote:Okay, obviously Wings has changed some of the particulars surrounding this release. The Cooper jackets for COW orders are not to feature interior facings, will have nickel or brass zips per specification, and are made in the States by Schott. I have read nothing to indicate that any orders submitted are going to change. I'm sure more information will be coming. The new ad for the Legend just went up late last night

Re: USW Raider #1. Take a look!
Okay, I'll stop jumping to conclusions. I'm just confused. I didn't realize there was any difference between this iteration of the offering and what we "pre-ordered" a few months ago. I just wasn't clear on whether or not those of us who pre-ordered should go ahead and just order off the website if we want one (since no money has changed hands yet).
The jacket itself looks fantastic.
Weston, can you share what size that is and some measurements? Thanks!

Re: USW Raider #1. Take a look!
Jacket looks fantastic Weston. I was initally concerned reading this thread but feel much better about things after the last few post. I am less hesitant about the purchase now but still think I may switch to the striated lamb. Maybe I should just call Sarge and get the information from the man himself.
Re: USW Raider #1. Take a look!
its a size large with slimmer waist. it has 25.5'' backlength. the waist should fit a person with 35''/36'' waist.can you share what size that is and some measurements?
the sleeves are 25.5'' long.
Im not speaking for Travis but it should be identical to the one I have.

The jacket is in fact a size L. Mr. Furious is occupied at the moment so, here are some measurements:
Collar 3 3/4 from stand to tip at the front, 2 7/8 at the back.
back length 25 1/2 from collar stand to hem.
Yep, your right Holt.

"The jacket is in fact a size L" Really? Hmm...
Do you have a Nowak? I have a Crystal Skull jacket in Harrison Ford (CS) size... what Big Tony called Large. I want the USW to fit almost the same, just a bit more room in the chest (maybe an inch or 2 in the sleeves) to accommodate a sweater.
Thoughts?

I don't have a Nowak for comparison, but as to sizing, I'd go straight to the source. Give them your measurements and you will be fine.

Really? I normally am a 42" in the chest and a 32" waist. The sizing chart on the USW site says a 42" chest is a Large, and that a Medium would fit a 38" or 40" chest...
If you wanna help me out, try comparing to the USW Raiders to the Nowak Crystal Skull 'Ford' in size.

So, this isn't the "official" Cooper jacket?

there are two but identical in pattern.
there is one version made for the world with facings and right hand zipp for ore real life street wear and the other one is for the COW fans. This will be with screen accurate left hand zipp and without facings. it will be a movie replica jacket.

Re: USW Raider #1. Take a look!
[quote="singsingjohnny"]I think the back looks a bit too tapered but what do I know. That, and thecollar looks too big for Raiders.
It's good to keep in mind that this is a reproduction of the pattern made by Cooper 30 years ago. To my mind, that does not take into consideration the fact that there were multiple jackets used, and were one-off, hand made jackets that, according to legend, were sometimes made overnight to meet shooting schedules. For that, use a custom jacket maker. This is made to spec from the pattern, and therefore may present small differences in comparison to the film jackets, as the film jackets present small differences to each other. I hope that makes sense to you guys.
Kwad, this is the Cooper pattern. The difference is the leather facings inside, and brass zip. Sarge doesn't consider changes to the interior a deviation from the pattern, but is making the ones for COW without facings, as stated earlier.
I think it strongly resembles the jacket in the "Imam's house." scene, and I see it in the opening scenes of the movie and "Flying Wing" scenes as well.
As to discounts, I think those days are gone, but I'd say it's a great deal even at full price.
Weston
EDIT: Holt explained it as I was typing.
