Second hand Disney Jacket

[Kentucky Blues]

A few weeks ago, I bought this jacket from the Classifieds here on COW. I'm not sure the exact age of the jacket, but the seller suggested it may have been the old Disney Cooper pattern, so it's probably not too recent. Anyway, I love this thing. It's a size small, and the sleeves are a bit short on my, but I think I found a fix for it. I love the color, the weight, and the feel of this jacket! It's my second Indy jacket to date, and I'm equally excited about it as I was my first one. It may not be quite so screen accurate as the first one, and the sleeves may be a bit short... but it's way more durable, and it has a flannel lining! That's probably my favorite part about the whole jacket, it's got a flannel lining.. everywhere! The body, the sleeves, the inside pocket, the insides of the cargo pockets, the inside of the handwarmers.. I'm going to be pretty warm in this thing come winter...

Hey that's a great find! The color is great, and the pocket flaps look excellent. The arm-straight-out thing is a bad way to judge sleeve length; the shot of you with your arms by your sides the sleeves look very close to the right length. I've been able to soak the sleeves in water and pull them down to the right length on some of my Indy jackets. It works fine if you have enough lining in the sleeves. Give it a try! Thanks.

That jacket, so far, has always been my favorite "Indiana Jones" jacket that I have owned. Besides being my first "Indiana Jones" jacket, the fit, the construction, the leather, the pattern, and regardless it not being "screen accurate", I just love that jacket. Thankfully, I am proud owner of two of those jackets.

Hmm.. I'll have to give the soak 'n stretch a try, thanks! And yeah, holding the arm out in front isn't the best way, but I can feel them riding up a bit just wearing it as well. I have long arms for my height, so it's something I tend to deal with in small jackets, but your idea might just work And it might be better than undoing the stitching and letting the cuff unfold completely, which was my original idea...

Weston's right about the pocket flaps. That generation of jacket did some good, almost LC like flaps.

I've had one of those old Coopers for over 20 years. Great jacket - wore it everywhere ( and pretty much wore it out! ).

It looks good on you, KB! I had the same sleeve length problem with my first Wested. It was a custom order, but I didn't realize the sleeves would ride up and "shrink" with wear. I had the sleeves let out on mine and they're the perfect length for me now. Heck, I don't even mind the crease marks so much.

I've got two of these.... One that I wore a lot, and one that's still like new. Obviously I really like them.

I think of them as a nice mix of ToD/LC. They are very well put together. It looks great on you, enjoy it!

Always liked that label! At times, I've considered buying one of these jackets just for the label! But you know how the fever is.

Cow, I'm assuming? Looks like very nice leather. It really has that LC vibe, with the collar ending before the storm flap, wider storm flap, thicker "cow" look leather,shape & length of the pockets.

I have one of those jackets too. It was my first Indy jacket, and I was completely jazzed when I found it at Disneyland. I'd been looking or one for sooo long, and got all excited when I saw it on the rack. I got even more excited when my wife told me to go ahead and buy it. Now it's my go to jacket for colder weather since it's so much heavier than my Wested. I have the same problem with the arm length as you do, so I'll have to try the water stretching trick too.

I bought my Disney jacket at Disney World in 1993, wore it constantly, then one year I get it out and the sleeves are too short! I ended up selling it to another member here -before I found out you could stretch them!!!
BIGGEST regret of my life!! -Even bigger than marrying the chick I was at Disney with!

Well, I've yet to stretch them (thought I have somewhat of an idea how), but I DID let out the cuff today, and it not only fits better, but I like the way it looks too! I still imagine they might shorten a bit with time and wear, so I'm gonna try stretching them when I get a chance.

Nice grab. I had that jacket and liked it. I lent it out to a cow member for a sizing and a possible sale back in 1999 and never saw it again. I hope he did not sell it. I remember liking the hide alot, it just did not fit me right. Good for you.

Nice Jacket! I have a similar jacket with the same sleeve issue.

I purchased a "Fan Club" jacket here on Cow a few months back and I am very happy with it. I think mine is essentially the same as the Disney Jacket of that era. If I'm not mistaken it may have been a Cooper design but I'm not sure. The only problem I had was that the sleeve length was just a bit too short. I found that there was enough leather and liner to let out about an inch and a half. I had no idea how to stretch them out at the time, or I might have tried that first.
