Bought a US Wings and ordered a Wested (updated with photos)

Post by John Falcon »

(topic was "another Fall, another jacket order")

UPDATED

I ordered a Wested LC washed goat. Then on Friday I stopped to "look" at US Wings in Hudson, OH and walked out with their lightweight lamb jacket. I hope to post photos soon.

Cool. I'm less than a day away from ordering a Magnoli Raiders hi-bred myself. I look forward to your comments after you new jacket arrives.

Gentlemen, you've both made some pretty COOL jacket-ordering decisions, in my opinion...
I wish you both "wrinkle-free" purchasing experiences and greatly look forward to seeing your jacketS when you've both recieved them!
All the Best,

Started to have second thoughts today as I found out the US Wings place is only about an hour from my house. Hmmmm.

At the risk of being labeled a USWings fanboy, get the 30thAnniversary wings/cooper. You won't get this chance again. Much as that washed goat hide has always appealed to me, it's no contest in my book. Besides, if you're that close to USWings, go to the unveiling of the jacket they have planned, take a look at the jacket for yourself. I'm jealous, 2000 miles is just too far.

I couldn't agree more with Bemo. If your that close too make the trip and see one of the jackets in person you should do so. I will be at the Aug. 30th presentation. Wested can make a great jacket, I own one, but if your that close to US Wings I would definitely check them out before ordering from Wested.

Decided not to go with the new US Wings Raiders, eh? Well, the New Zealand lamb jacket is really nice too, so you did well anyway. Can't wait for the pics!

Make sure that you specify on the Wested that the pockets are to be placed three inches form the bottom hem. This measurement seems to be SA to what I personally see on screen.

Thanx!!!

I doubt think I can do the jacket justice with words (as in this thread http://indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f ... t+lambskin ), so I'll just post a few photos instead. ;)

This does not surprise me in the least, especially after you actually get one in your hands. ;)

WELL done!

Today I checked on the status of the Wested I ordered and found they are out of the washed goatskin. :(

Cow member "John Falcon" sorry to hear that, sir. Hopefully soon, you'll be able to get one. I have three "off the rack" (OTR) and one custom, washed goatskin jackets from Wested, and man, I love that leather. Lighter weight than cowhide, a bit heavier weight than lambskin. And tough and sturdy as well.

BTW, did you place a "custom" order or an "off the rack"? :-k

Decided to try the unwashed goat.....according to the DHL website it's in Cincinati Ohio already. Woo Hoo. Wonder how much cash the driver will demand for it. I believe they sent me a bill for $22.00 last time.
