Re: The 'Streets Of Cairo' Hat Display Page
It sure is!
steerpike, Thank You for posting these extra few photos... WOW, they really show off that hat!
My advice to anyone who's teetering on the edge as to whether or not to order from Mr. Garrison, is:
Do it soon before he gets too busy.
steerpike, these photos of yours might inspire SoC Fans to form a "line-up" to Garrison's door overnight!

Tundrarider wrote:Steerpike, Great job on the extra photos. I was curious about the inside as I recall David saying he didn't put a sweatband or liner in his own SOC.
Hey Tundrarider, In my own persoanl hat, I don't put in a liner or sweatband, because I think that Indy's hat didn't have it in either. My opinion. I noticed that my felt took on a more "relaxed look" without the sweatband. It helps to improve the little thing like : the pleat becomes more defined and it allows the brim break to "relax out" more. To me the sweatband acts more like a reinforcing ring. The real Cairo hat looks to "tuckered out" for that. . I do put these things in the customers hat. Otherwise, they want know who made it.

Re: The 'Streets Of Cairo' Hat Display Page
Steerpike your fedora really captures the essence of the SOC Indy hat. You wear it well! I have been really focused on Adventurebilt and Penman hats. I must say, I have been missing out on another great talent here on COW. LLS your work looks amazing and let me give a I ordered a Penman LC and I am currently sporting the AB CS. As a fan of the Raiders hat, as weird as it may be, I don't own a Raiders style hat. I am seriously considering making it a trio of fedoras and getting one of yours.

David, it's true, with this hat you captured the essence of SOC...and I can't take off my head!!

Now that's the spirit!! Remember, Deborah Nadoolman said "It had to look like a costume that he wore EVERYDAY. You are on the right path. As a warning, if your head does come off when you take your hat off, I might need to adjust the sweatband a little bit. . Just kidding.steerpike wrote:

Thank you for the compliment. the pics look great. Cant wait to see more with you wearing your Raiders Cairo style Garrison Hatters.

Re: The 'Streets Of Cairo' Hat Display Page
Al last, I'm very glad I've done some outdoor shot of my SOC Garrison hat. This is the result of an afternoon spent in the woods. You can actually appreciate the performance of your hat only when you strech it and push it to the limit, jumping, climbing and crawl in the dust
The hat reacted perfectly, coming back home and screaming "I want more adventure!" I have to thank David for this great piece of gear.
I'll post in the scrapbook section the rest of the adventure

Awesome, Steerpike.AWESOME!!!.
I am glad to see an update on your hat after some time has passed. It looks as if the Rabbit Raiders felt is doing great. I don't see a smidge of taper. Your action shots are super. Thanks for posting this. The adventures of Steerpike and the Hidden Fountains of the Ancients.
PS: Sir, that hat makes a pretty good well of Souls hat too, I think.

Lol, I was super excited about the possibilities that were presented here for a Fed IV, but man, it looks so daunting to get it to look like that. It's intimidating.
They all look fantastic though. Great job everyone!

Man! There are some seriously fantastic hats in this thread. I am blown away especially by the offerings of Holt. He has that little extra something/something to it with the lighting & the dents & the dirt. Simply Wow!
Good job folks, I really like what I've seen here.
Cheers!

Wow, great pics steerpike!! That is one of the best Raiders hats I've seen. LLS, you've done it again! Makes me proud to be able to say I'm wearing the first official Garrison Raider!

Is that a rubber band tightened around the crown? I never would've thought of that. How long did you keep it there?Bullitt wrote:I'm very impressed with the skills of members like fedoraiders and Holt. The only thing that always bothered me on the Federation is the color never seems right. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I got my Henry. That color was spot on, in my eyes. The pics I have posted before and are a bit overlighted, but stay with me. The hat has a bit of SoC going on, but I actually see it more as the Flying Wing/Truck Chase hat.

Yes it is. I made the area directly under the rubber band wet and I let it dry overnight. I think it's been over a year now since I used this technique, but the result is still there.NoodlesBubblesBeans wrote:Is that a rubber band tightened around the crown? Hey, we're on to Page SIX!
I'm so glad this Thread kinda' got it's "second wind" (THANKS steerpike for bringing it back up the list of Topics from where it was sitting at the start of the summer... I hope it stays here for another little while!)
Y'know, when I initially made my contribution to this Thread it was to show some shots of my Penman SoC... but I'm thinking I should probably share just a couple of recent shots of my Fedoraiders SoC as well...
Maybe in a few days or so.
