Re: US Wings Raiders Jacket label ideas
I agree that the second one would work better. I love the wings logo, but I think the trademark includes the wording underneath the wings themselves.

Re: US Wings Raiders Jacket label ideas
I would personally just go with the standard Wings label myself with the small addition of crediting this pattern designer Mr Cooper. I reckon these great jackets will speak for themselves. References to the film on the label are IMO too corny.

Re: US Wings Raiders Jacket label ideas
Keep in mind, these labels are ONLY going on the 200 reserved for COW, so corny or not, they're still viable.
What you suggest, CM, could work for the global release.
I'd only recommend ONE thing, TS. Remove the size indication from the tag. It will require them to make a separate set of labels for every size made in this configeration, rather than one label for all, and the separate size tag attached beneath.

Will do, I just kept it there because the original G-1 had it sewn into the label. But I understand where you're coming from logistically.Michaelson wrote:I'd only recommend ONE thing, TS. If it were a big run, it makes perfect sense....but like I said, we're only talking 200 jackets here.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. But an added bonus is by taking off the size it actually balances out the image more...

Oh, yeah...nice!!!
Re: US Wings Raiders Jacket label ideas
I know we are leaning towards a “less is more” approach, but I thought I’d throw this option out there and maybe someone can take it and run with it. It just seems this is going on the club member’s jackets and should really be set apart from the other tags that will run for the general public. The imagery that is the back ground is from the Artist Eric L. Conklin, who painted this image which he named Indiana Jones. I did not want to use this image, and I would really like to see one of the members put some of their gear together (Even maybe one item from each of the moderators or founding members) in some fashion like this image. Fedora, Whip, MkVII Bag, Holster/Belt.
Just my thoughts, but I think it would be neat to have the image vintage looking with the gear positioned together in black and white with whatever text and phrasing is decided on. But it would definitely be a COW tag.
Any thoughts?

I can see you've put some work into this but "flight jacket"? I would have thought the IJ Jacket was a utility jacket, like those worn by civilian labourers. The flight jacket of Indy's time, the A1 had knits... just a thought and no offence meant.

Re: US Wings Raiders Jacket label ideas
I know what you’re saying CM but _'s write up on the jacket showed it was based on military jackets with one instance of using an A-1 with the knits removed. It's also what most people associate the jacket with being. I honestly didn’t know about the utility jacket before now. Thanks for the info thoughCM wrote:Tennessee Smith wrote:Yeah, I see what you're saying. But an added bonus is by taking off the size it actually balances out the image more...

But on another note, the term utility jacket does make me kind of think about Batman...
and I'd rather not cross franchises
but thank you for your response, I appreciate it!!!

Re: US Wings Raiders Jacket label ideas
The design, as I recall, is an amalgamation of the A-2, G-1, and G-8 flight jackets....
Storm flap, collar stand and pocket designs like the A-2
Action pleated back like the G-1
Adjustable straps and no knit cuffs and waist hem like the G-8
So...technically, it's a "child" of several flight jacket designs....and, as such, I think would be designated a flight jacket.
I've had more people than I can count ask me if I was a pilot when wearing my Indy jackets...so, it "looks" like a flight jacket, at any rate!
Regards!

Yes IndyDawg... You are right on 100 % Neil Coopers Family made Flight jackets for Pilots in WW1 and then supplied Pilots in WW11 and George Lucas from what Neil told me reached out to Neil and ask Him to Make the Raiders Jacket and he did from the A-2 the G-1 and the G-8. There is no doubt in the World about the Cooper family making US Military Flight Jackets.. for 100 years!! From what I have been told the Indy Jacket will be fashion and style this season around the world.Indydawg wrote:The design, as I recall, is an amalgamation of the A-2, G-1, and G-8 flight jackets....

I like that alot T.S. I agree that the Indy jacket is a hybrid of the flight issue jackets, so this label fits with your(our) Imagination. Could you try it with a sand color background and/or a red or black script. I love the label, it just seems dark. Just thinking. Cheers my friend!

Re: US Wings Raiders Jacket label ideas
And here are two that go back to the original A-1/G-1 design of gold lettering on a black background. The first has the traditional lettering with the same size font, the second fills up the image more with different font sizes.
I prefer the last one...

Re: US Wings Raiders Jacket label ideas
I just got off the phone with John Tarantino’s Office, and they suggest we hold off on the special labeling for now. They do not want it to hinder our proposed deal with Lucas Films. Once that is completed, it should be okay to use, but we want to wait until closer to the time.
