Just so we're clear...
The LC jacket had a brass zipper, right?
I've done a search on it and there was some conversation relating to this, though I was unsure as to where we all settled on it. Also, if it does have a brass zipper, does Magnoli offer it with his LC jackets? Seems he's one of the top dogs when it comes to this particular style. Comments?
Cheers

I think the best thing to say is that the zipper in the film had a brass colour to it (whether it was actually brass or artificially distressed nickel or other metal is probably still a talking point ) but getting one with a brass zipper would save time distressing a non-brass oneconceited_ape wrote:The LC jacket had a brass zipper, right?

My own preference is for a light coloured brass or bronze. Not the bright gold coloured brass you sometimes get, that seems at odds with all the pictures we have.

IMO get what zipper you personally prefer and always keep in mind that a zipper doesn't make a jacket.
It's a small detail and won't make your jacket look more LC.

Re: Just so we're clear...
I don't know what type of zips the original jackets had, but, IMO they look like oxidized nickle.
I have knives in my collection with nickle hardware that will tarnish in a few days if you touch them.
When they do tarnish, they turn that yellowed color I see in the jacket zippers.
With all the distressing the costume department did on the LC jackets, I don't think it's beyond possible that they used an oxidizing agent on the zippers (like Tundra did).
However, this is just speculation on my part.

It was just a question, dude. I only asked it because I couldn't find where we settled on the issue, if anywhere.

Some issues can't be settled. It's all up how the individual sees the image on the screen, and determines what THEY see. As you have seen here, as well as in the other threads on this subject, no one really agrees, so there is no 'settling' on a final answer.

Wasn't the zipper for the Last Crusade jacket made by a French company? It's on the internet so it's a fact.

Actually, I believe you are thinking about the ToD zippers.
They were made by a French company out of adamantium.
Unfortunately, Ford is allergic to adamantium, so the leftover Bantu Wind dock scene jackets (That were originally designed by Wested for James Dean) were used instead.

Sorry - can't help myself any time I get a chance to make a joke about that "elusive French Temple of Doom jacket." Not to derail the thread or anything.
