Toys R Us Wested Guy
This post is directed to the gentleman who was visiting the Dale City VA. Toys R Us on 11/10/02. I write only to say thanks for letting me get a hands on look at your new Wested. It was cool to see one in person. The craftsmanship was outstanding!
To all else, This has to be the greatest jacket on earth!! This guy was kind enough to actually remove his jacket and allow my wife and I a perfect view of this work of art. She,my wife, of course was embarrased cause' here I am like some kind of Indystalker in a toy store. But hey, I couldn't help it. I've been contemplating getting a Wested but wasn't sure as I was sorta sold on the FS. They produce wonderful jackets as well. I recently purchased an A-2 in Goat from them and thought that I wouldn't ever go elsewhere. But having seen the Wested I can say to all thoes that are holding off as I was, GO FOR THE WESTED!!!!! you wont be dissapointed.

If you're anything like me... you're not like an Indystalker, you are an Indystalker. Was he wearing a Fedora, as well?rai wrote: ...my wife, of course was embarrased cause' here I am like some kind of Indystalker in a toy store...
I also have to add that the Wested is quite awesome... I'm greatful for the one I have.
Whats funny is I was searching for a girl I met while working as an extra on the crappy Keanu Reeves film 'Chain Reaction'. This woman was INCREDIBLE!!! She looked like a Playboy/Penthouse model (I'm NOT kidding here and have pics to prove it) and was wearing an Indy fedora when I met her. She said she had other sisters and her Dad said he was going to raise her with the interests he had which were Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I fell in love momentarilly. She went on to say she also collected Indy and Star Wars toys just like I do. SIGH... But alas, we never met again. You can see her in the film as a waitress in a bar scene right before Keanu is chased by the cops up a bridge. I was at the bottom of the bridge freezing my ### off for a week! I would love to meet up with her and chat again.
Captain D, I was able to tell that the jacket was goatskin. However, I couldn't be positive as to the color. It semed a sort of seal brown bordering on russet. A lot lighter than I would expect but very nice nonethless. As far as a Club Obi Wan member, My wife dragged me away before I could ask. Sorry

A couple of weeks ago, I was in Duluth. Georgia. It was dark. There was a light rain.
I was stopped at a light and waited for the arrow to turn green. I looked over at the driver in the car to my right and there he was. Phantom Indy.
A leather jacket to be sure. Wested? Expedition? But the fedora was unmistakeable. It's bow and distinctive bash gave him away immediately. And, why was that man wearing a lid in his car? It looked like it would be scraping the inside roof. A fellow gearhead?
My wife chuckled as I stared, hoping to get his attention. She quipped, "what are you going to do, show him you coat?" She'll learn to understand, in time.
In a moment the light turned and we proceeded through the intersection, into the night, each going our separate ways.
Definitely a Phantom Indy.
I.J.

Hey now that we are mentioning the "Phantom Indy", I'd like to spit out my own story.
Well me and my best friend (the one with the non-Indy fedora) were walking through Chinatown, and we noticed this guy who had a brown tall-crowned fedora with a contrasting ribbon. I immediately claimed that the guy probably was going for the Indy type fedora (it didn't look 100% accurate, but I could see what he was going for), but I couldn't really be too sure. The funny thing was that the guy seemed to start walking faster from me and my friend (both wearing fedoras) and eventually he lost us when we walked into a shop. We decided to get ice cream at the local Ben and Jerry's a few minutes later and guess who was in there? Yep, it was the same guy with the fedora, and we were right behind him in line. I think the guy had like a holy $h*t look on his face, but what would you do if there were these teenagers with fedoras following you unintentionally?
You'd think that my story of my Phantom Indy would end there, but it doesn't...
Many months later my friend and I were down at fishermen's wharf instead, and we went to the local Barnes and Nobles to read the magazines. Right as we encountered the magazine rack, guess who we ran into? Yep, it was the same guy wearing the same fedora (he was also wearing khakis again), who had by that time became known to us as "Fedora". We burst out laughing and quickly stifled ourselves a minute later. So I went to reading my usual magazines, and I go around the rack and nearly run right into the Phantom Indy, so I stepped back and went back to the opposite side. I'm guessing it must have been strange for all the people who noticed a teenager with a Indy fedora on one side, another teenager wearing a regular fedora at the side of the rack, and a guy wearing yet another Indy fedora on the other side of the rack. OK, well my story ends here, but is my story weird or what? I noticed that when I'm with my friend, we happen to see someone else wearing a fedora. I'm guessing that there's some sort of invisible pull on fedora wearers to be in the same area, sort of like the immortals from Highlander.
Wow, this is a long post.

I was at the supermarket the other day, and I caught myself doing the same thing. There were 3 Indy type jackets, with the front cargo pockets, but none were authentic.Pyroxene wrote:This is great! Phantom Indy stories. I love them.
Anytime I see a leather jacket I check to see if it has the Indy cut.
It's a sickness, I tell ya'
