Aye, I figured that it would be just a batch variation cos I knew you used the same felt. :TOH:

No, sorry I wasn't trying to imply that it's too thick or anything . Yours and Steve's felt (In my unqualified opinion) is the best I've ever tasted!!

Hat looks FANTASTIC, David!

I'm very happy for you! So glad to see you out of that taper-job (no offense!) Now your Indy look is complete! John's my man! Glad to see that he's yours too!

Hopefully we'll see each other next month!

My one year old Penman got an interesting adventure today. As per Steve's rolling a fedora thread (search function if ya got any questions) I rolled up my Penman LC and took it to the Mountains of NC today. It unrolled and other than a few wonky spots (which were easily massaged back into shape) the thing was perfect! Soooo...if you have a Penman beaver felt and need to travel with it, roll em if you got em!!!!

Well it won't be long now [-o< and I'll be joining the ranks of the "owners of a Penman hat", John said my lid was going on the block last week soooooooo, any day now. I'll of course post pics, it's going to be a CS travel hat. The misses said I could get another hat as long as it wasn't brown. :)

Well you won't regret it. :D

Can't wait to see the photos :D . Steerpike has one and it's awesome. Almost got one myself, but defaulted back to a brown LC. Let's see if my next order isn't for a grey though.

Thanks for the compliments, fellas! On the subject of stitching, my Raiders has the tack downs above the brim break and I was a bit concerned that the ribbon would ride up like on my Henry. Absolutley not the case!! I put a reasonable amount of pressure on the ribbon to see if it rides up, and it won't budge :D :D :D This is the Raiders hat upon which the rest should be judged....Looks like a raggedy old trusty hat, but built Penman tough. I'm beyond impressed :notworthy: :notworthy:

I think the incredible, bendable oak tree tacks 'em down to the brim break...much preferred! ;)

For the most part I like to clean up the sloppy work that was done on the first three movie hats. I like to put the tack down stitches on the brim break where they should be but on davids hat he asked for SA stitching but no ride up on the ribbon. That's what I gave him. I can place the stitches anywhere the customer wants but I like to make my Indy hats they way they should have been made, not slicked out.

Thanks everyone, as soon as I get the lid in question, I'll post a pic, naturally on top of my noggin. ;) .
I've a wedding to go to soon and I'm trying to pull of a close enough train station look. Not going for SA, but close enough.

And yes I've deffently thanked the misses, for with out her green light, this would only have been a dream. Now it's a dream come true.
So John whats the usally wait once you've shipped.

And on a seperate note, never had to deal w/duty, but man, having your lid so close but so far away, what are they waiting for, it's a hat, you wear it.

And TenuredProfessor, that is one nice lookin hat, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, oh honey........................

I feel your pain, it's the same thing in France.

Custom fees in France are between 25% and 30% of the price of the product + shipping cost....

Hey, if I could make a suggestion... I think you should make a photo gallery on the Penman Facebook page specifically to show the different colors you have, because personally I'm curious to see all the options.

You can count on it, I'll get all snazzed up too, white shirt, red tie black over coat and a brand new Penman, can't wait.

Oh and more pic's to come once I get a chance to get to the men clothing store to get my jacket for close enough train staion/campus look. Man it's gonna be a long week. You think waiting 6 months is long enough, but that last weeks a killer, specially since John sends you the pic of your lid. Thanks John, I'm very anxious.

Well, I think I have about a little under a month and I can join the club. Visiting John's shop got me excited all over again since I put my order in so many months back. Right now, things are so busy with life time is going to fly by and it'll be on my noggin before I know it. \:D/
John, next time we meet I'll bring by that Borsalino that we were talking about along with the bowler & Homburg. I think you'll get a kick out of them.

I have a rust colored but I think some other hatter called ox blood. It isnt that dark as I would like but a very nice color. I do have a wine color but its to red to call ox blood. Im still working on getting the right color but I still have the same problem. i dont have enough interest to do a run of a special color.

On a seperate note; If you remember my paranoia regarding the waterproofing on my Raiders hat not being 'man' enough for the weather here in the North of England? Well, just been battered with bucket-sized rain drops for 10 mins and she held up like a trooper, mearly laughing at the futility of the onslaught.
