Ordered a Wested one month ago... not here yet

Post by Indiana82 »

Hi,

I wonder if anyone else has a WESTED Order pending... . I placed my order almost a month ago and the jacket has not been shipped yet. They don't respond to mails and I called twice already. Fist they cancelled my order without an apparent reason, did not react to mails I wrote, so I called. Again I learned: cancelled without a reason.
A week later I got a mail, that my leather is out of stock. Wrote a mail again, changing the leather. No response, so again a week later I called and learned they had never changed my leather-option. That was a week ago. I really don't wanna call again, maybe it's my phone but I could hardly understand them the last time.

I feel that the general mood towards WESTED had changed a bit in this forum since the last time I've been here, 2-3 years ago... . What happened??

My best to all of you, :whip:

Marco.

You are learning what most of us have already learned...communication with Wested can be difficult at times. Whether Gemma doesn't relay messages, or she just gets confused, I don't know.

Either way, to Echo what Michaelson said, sounds like your leather change never registered as you said. Either call again and straighten it out, or look for another jacket vendor who will respond better. I can name a few.

Well I can certainly see that there are issues, as you've said - I experienced them myself. But has it gotten worse? Why and when? It's my fourth jacket, my first one being about 10 years old, that said and I can't say it was like that before... .

But for a really good price and half-price shipping to Europe for COW members, you could try a US Wings... ;)

I've had and liked two Wested jackets in the past, and I'll be purchasing another one (black) shortly. However, they've all been through other members here. I've not yet been able to communicate well enough to actually purchase from Wested itself. I would only hope that if I could call without the international long distance fees that I would have better luck. Doesn't sound like it however...

I hear they have had a busy old 6 weeks or so. Peter was away at the beginning and end of the period, Gemma away in the middle, a large movie order came in at short notice, and to top it off novapelle was out of stock for weeks and now washed goat seems to be too.

You may have got lost in their spam filter too. Wouldn't be the first time that has happened.

I feel for you with the accent thing. They do have unadulterated Estuary accents which can be hard to understand if you are not used to it.

Often orders get cancelled if the credit card you are using has not been set up for international orders and gets refused. They really ought to tell you if it does but it seems that they might not, maybe they assume that the CC company will tell you themselves. Credit cards failing happens a lot with US orders, apparently.

For the record, I've never had a problem with Wested after several orders. However, I have heard stories of late to the contrary. Take that for what it's worth.

My wife ordered a Wested Raiders for me for Christmas a couple of years ago. She did it all through e-mail, and it came out perfect. I've been very surprised to hear all of the bad press here about them, but if they're doing a bad job, they need to be called out on it.
I've heard nothing but good things about U.S. Wings. If I ever buy another Indy jacket, it will probably be through them.

Hi,

just wanted to let you know that I called again yesterday. They told me it would be shiped today, 1 month 4 days since I placed the order. I hope it will be worth the wait - on the other hand, I am wearing their jackets for about 10 years now - almost without a break on a daily basis. I like what they're doing at an unbeatable price for a custom made jacket.

It is just the lack of communication that is worrying me... .

Told you it would be shipped today did they? : ) That old chestnut! Anything to get a customer off the phone. Actually, you should be glad; that usually means it will arrive tomorrow, possibly via Wested's space-age matter transporter! Seriously though, keep an eye out for it; theyre so clueless about what ships out and when, it may arrive sooner than expected. Did for me, twice!

Hm, I always got a mail, when they sent out a jacket. One of them, and one of Parcelforce with the tracking number - altough I havn't recived any of them yet.

My last jacket from Wested (which was a custom order) took almost exactly one month from the day I ordered it until it was received.
They also did not send an email when it shipped (just showed up one day).

However, the delivery guy did hold it for ransom at my doorstep (some type of customs fee...)

Have they taken your dosh yet?

I've had a couple, and they've both turned up at a different time than expected. My last custom turned up in 4 weeks, but I live in the UK. When I called about mine, Gemma said that custom orders take 6 weeks to complete, and then the shipping. Based on that, how late is your jacket now?

It's not just Wested though, my Henry took 8 weeks to turn up, and that's an 'off the shelf' - My point being, tardiness in emails and delivery times doesn't necessarily mean that you can't trust 'em, might just mean that they're busy. :TOH:

Yes, I quote Ian. My LC Custom took about two month and a half because they haven't Novapelle at the time I've ordered my jacket.
Anyway, Gemma told me by email that I had to wait. But they have a pretty awful email service and many mails where lost due to the anti-spam filter.

I ordered a ToD custom a few months ago and that went pretty smoothly. I got it in 20 days. Gemma answered all my emails, and the jacket came out exactly as I wanted. I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience with them. Maybe they've just been very very busy? Not that that excuses poor customer support.
Gemma is probably a very nice person, but I bet they'd have a better business if they had a die-hard Indy fanatic taking care of the customers requests.

Just to let you know – my jacket arrived last friday, so it was sent as they claimed on wednesday but without any confirmation. It fits very nicely and like I wanted it: short, though changes from my initial order, which I tried to communicate to them for about 3 weeks, were not respected. But it's a nice jacket non-theless.

Thanks all! :TOH:
