Well, that's one way to distress an adventurebilt

Post by Bruce Wayne »

Long story short, my new adventurebilt flew out the open window of my truck & got run over by a semi. No worse for wear. The brim needs a good flanging now though...

Adventurbilt VS. Peterbilt.

Don King could sell it on pay per view!

Ouch indeed! I'm glad it's not too damaged.

Not a scratch on it. That I could find at least. Although I was a little too busy playing on the interstate to really notice

No grease stains whatsoever? You're one lucky guy! Now if that were one of those "bulletproof" hats that are super stiff, I'm sure it would've been a different story. Floppy beats stiff this time.

...but...

you're really lucky the truck didn't run over dog poo (can I say that?) first before running over your hat.

Not sure if we need to leave this in this section, or move it to the gear care/distressing area. Seems a bit more extreme than some methods I've read to date..... :-k

 ;)

I'm glad to read that your fedora is fine... but what about the truck? How badly was it damaged?

Are they going to sue?

For some reason that comment reminded me of the time I was hit by a car while walking down the street... the car was damaged and the whole windshield smashed into itty-bitty pieces! I just got up, looked for my missing shoe and continued on my way.

Last time we heard of someone taking their fedora out on unplanned stuntwork on an interstate, it was a member who rolled their pickup truck while wearing their PB custom. The hat went through the entire affair without so much as a dent. The truck, on the otherhand, was totalled.

My first AB was blown clean off my head during a rainstorm in SoCal in 2005, probably one of the more bad ones we have had in recent memory. The wind blew my umbrella right out of my hands, and it blew my hat off of my head and off the bridge I was standing on (had to walk in the rain, had no car and no ride), and off into the inky night. I figured I'd never see it again, but I came back to the bridge after the storm had passed, and the hat was sitting down on the shoulder of the freeway. I called a cab to take me down there, and he took me down there to get it. No tread marks, very slight, if any taper, and still sopping wet.

Well, after a closer examination today while I was waiting for my lunch to arrive I discovered that my AB has a slight crease on the sweatband. If you don't know what you are looking for, you probally wouldn't even notice it. So my fedora didn't survive completly unscathed, but I still think it held up pretty good for what it went thru.

Now if THAT doesn't tell you how much abuse an AB will take, nothing will! Talk about a road test!
