Last Crusade Jacket by Riley Barrie (Tony Nowak Original)

Post by orb »

Here is it! My newest jacket from Riley! Ordered in October 2009 but it took quite a while and after the big loss of Tony it took even longer!
I had complete control over my jacket and Riley nailed everything I asked for!
For the leather I requested the CS hide but very dull with only small grain and I got what I asked for! No shiney parts on the jacket and no big grain!
Here two pictures! Keep in mind the jacket is brand new. The collar still needs to mold.

I also got a real special lining. Tony called it the Military/Police Lining. It's really a heavy lining and keeps you in sommer cool and in winter warm.
Suits perfectly the LC Jacket!

Nice to see you back with a new Nowak Orb!
It's fantastic. The Crystal Skull leather is probably the nicest cowhide around.

Lookin' good! I'm glad to see the "In Memory of..." embroidery, too. Did you request it or is it now standard on the jackets?

Very nice jacket, Orb. I really like the (a little) more subtle but distinctive LC weathering!

Your grandkids should be enjoying this jacket.

looks like they specced the pockets pretty good but the zipper is way wrong!

the skin is too dull. the LC had some sheen to the jacket.

anyways, like you, im just sharing my honest opinion. :TOH:

What can be wrong on a zipper? Yeah you know just read the top of the thread. I requested a dull skin. So your the opinion is worthless. Because I never said this is the most and best screen accurate LC ever made.

To be honest, I'm just happy to see there are still very screen accurate, custom fitting jackets being made, especially since the trend has gone COMPLETELY the other way as of late. Holt, I don't understand your criteria lately, man!

Gerald, you know you've got a narrow-ish frame, and this jacket looks great on you. Well cut sleeves, a backpanel that broadens the look of your shoulders, and the correct sleeve to body length ratio. Great stuff!

Two of the three TN LC I have do sport the nickel zipper. I did that because Tony truly beleived that is was nickle. Mind you none of my TN nickle zippper look 100% silver.

Actually I've been meaning to ask - there seems to be a bit of a variation in nickel - my previous TN Raiders' nickel zip was very burnt / yellowish looking, while my new one is very silver looking. But both are clearly the same "stuff".

Correct Han. Nickel will develop a yellowish hue especially over time. In those screen shots the zipper looks yellowish but could easily be nickel.
If it were Bronze it would be darker.

That's not to say the actual jacket had a nickel zipper, just that by the screen shots shown it could very well be.

Well, reverse engineering, Peter hates to work with nickel zips and has said so many times in person and here in discussions, so I'd be surprised if they were anything but brass. :-k

Anyway, STILL a beautiful jacket! :M:

Maybe Michaelson, but using that thinking, Peter also likes sewn hems, and the LC does not have a sewn hem

In Holt's defence Orb, he doesn't need to rely on screenshots or mere speculation. He has himself seen and measured a screen-used LC jacket, or at least knows someone who has. How else could he be so certain of every detail?

the zipper was brass.

dont you all think that it would take more then just a few days, weeks even months after they got the new jackets to develop that ''yellowish'' look on the zipper you all are talking about? does it not develop over time because of the elements, stress and use? this makes me smile abit..lol.

in the 3 years I have worn my jackets with nickle zipper NON of them have turned yellow. not one of them. a friend of mine has worn a leather jacket for 8 years with hard use and im telling ya, the zipper has yet to turn yellow.. but sure, all the LC jacket zippers turned yellow. lol. they probably had a school student (who needed an extra buck) paint or wash every single teeth on the zipper to make it look yellow because they really wanted a yellowish zip on all LC jackets. well if they really wanted a ''yellow'' zipper wouldnt it be easier just to replace it with an brass one? a tailor does it all the time and takes about 10 minutes to complete. or shall we just agree on that they were brass. what makes sence here?

Frankly, I dont care if they were silver or brass. I now when I want a jacket I want what my eyes are telling me. thats why I dont want an ''authentic brown color'' for raiders because my eyes are telling me the jacket was darker.

I know when things turn into this level of discussion, I have more important things to do then to sit here overanalyzing some zipper made on a jacket so many years ago... it all turns very geeky. oh and just alittle piece of advice, if someday some of you are going on a first date, dont mention this.

If HOLT says it's brass it must be brass... ](*,)
Why was the Zipper Pull Nickel then? Doesn't make much sense.
I don't believe you. You also withdraw your opinion about the width of the stormflap. But if you would really had the specs of a screenused jacket you should have known it better right from the start.

You have no 100% proof if the Zipper was Brass. So we can all decide it by our own.

I don't know, seems someone really cares about the zipper, brought it up and keeps bringing it up :-k

But as for nickel slightly yellowing? It doesn't necessarily take that long, especially if it is a nickel alloy, which they probably are.
The screen shots show a very light yellowish hue, more in line with nickel than brass.
But considering the different jackets used in LC it's possible one had a nickel zipper and one had a brass or bronze zipper.

yeah you know what. thats it bink.

they probably made the ''yellow'' zipper color like they made the lightsaber effects in Start wars. just having that ''color'' effect laying on top of the zipper all the time. lol.
