I know Peters Bros. does them. there will be other companies who offer them, but I don't know which ones.

Yes, I know. But don't they also sell panamas?

They do sell panamas :) Or at least panama style... you know, a nice dense straw weave. I'm not entirely sure what justifies an actual panama though. Anyway, Panama Hats Direct also makes a nice hat, I hear :).

Several on the fedora lounge recommend panamabob.com. No personal experience with the site or product though.

I have experience with Panama Bob - A fantastic hat from a great guy who cares deeply about the local trade and the families who make those hats.

Not only will you get a great hat from him, but your cash will be going to the hatmakers in Ecuador more directly.

The Fedora Lounge is a great place to see people wearing his stuff and read Bobs comments.

Here's his website.

I got a cuenca hat, the cabellero. Looks great, feels great.

Panamabob is probably your best bet, and if you want something a little extra special he'll send hats to American hatters for the blocking. I know Art Fawcett often keeps a few of Panamabob's hat bodies around, waiting.

If you happen to be state-side and a size 7 1/2, I was just about to post one of Bob's budget hats for sale. It's been treated well, so it looks just about new. But it is his lowest grade straw. I'm only selling it to thin the herd, and it just happens to get less wear than most.
