Need a Jacket

Post by soulman »

Hello all! it has been some time since i've been around and i'm glad to be back. I was very ill and unable to persue my favorite hobby. Namely collecting gear. I regret that I had to sell ALL of my collection to pay for hospital bills (man I hate cancer) but now I would like to start a basic collection of at least the clothing worn by our hero. I am in need of a jacket and am curious about the Todds version. How does it measure up? Does it compare to any of the others? I've owned The G&B Goat, Wested Goat and the Wings V.I.P. so I have some idea of what's out there. I am drawn to their price but are they durable and what are they made of?

Take Care,
Ed

Todd's Standard jacket is made of lamb, and they are thin but durable. One of the most accurate jackets especially in its price range. Here is the chart:

 Sleeve Chest Waist
S 33 1/2" up to37" up to 34"
M A 33" up to 40" up to 38"
M B 34 1/2" up to41" up to 38"
L 35 1/2" up to 45" up to 42"
XL 36 1/2" up to 49" up to 46"
XXL 37 1/2" up to 53" up to 48"

Glad to see you've recovered and ready to get back on the gear trail!

As to the Todd's, there's a lot of threads on it and how it compares. In short, it's not as robust as a G and B or a Wings. But it's not a costume jacket by any means either. I found myself reaching for it all the time this spring and it's held up well under normal use (i.e., going to work). Hard to beat in terms of screen accuracy if that interests you.

As Crisman and TS stated it is a very thin lamb jacket but a very accurate reproduction. I love mine and have had for almost two years now. I also own a Wested and US Wings jacket.

You will find many happy owners in the above thread.

Sorry to here about your cancer but glad you seem to be recovering well.

Hi Ed,
I hope all is well with you now. I don't own a Todd's but its not for tall people, hence why I don't have one. I've heard good things about it albeit its very lightweight. There are the new US Wings offerings for $195 you can see in the Vendor's announcements, cowhide is now available and lambskin will be available soon; they are LC style. The striated lamb from them will be out next month I think, which is $295. Really depends on what style you're looking for and the hide.

Well I did it. I bought the Todds Standard in what i'm told is the "New" leather. Not really sure what the old leather run was like. I paid 135.00 out the door so I think I got it for a fair price as it is said to be in new condition. I'm really hoping I like it. Now for the wait.

One feature of the 'new leather' jackets, the new run, was that the had warmer pockets go into the lining of the jacket. The 'old run' did not.

Hello all! Yes it arrived and I am amazed with it. As stated before I have owned Wested, G&B and Wings and I don't know how to put it but this jacket, though lighter in weight than the rest is somehow more "Raiders" or "Indy". I can't put my finger on it. My wife even said that this one looks more the part than the others. I'll get pics as soon as I am able. I've only had it on a few times as it's been hot here in Virginia but I love the feel and the drape. I can't wait for the fall to really get some jacket time in.

We would love to see it. I love mine, and it's served me very well over the last couple years. Most of us agree that there is no more accurate Raiders jacket available, and you cannot beat Todd's price. Enjoy it! It might feel light and almost insubstantial, but you can throw alot at this jacket.

Couldn't agree more with Weston, there is something about Todd's jacket that makes "it" the Raiders jacket. When Tuesday arrives I will have four Indy style jackets and will be considering letting go of my Wested but not Todd's. I would love to find a Todd's in a size Large from 2008. I currently own an XL and it may be a little big but I wouldn't get rid of it until I had another jacket in hand to check the fit.
