East Coast Whips Updates

Post by ecwhips »

Hi all,

Just an announcement of some new things going on at ecwhips.com. Starting in February I will be making whips on a full time basis. I've come to the point where I can't keep up with the workload on a part time basis anymore, and I hate the fact that my backlog always amounts to a long wait for customers. Working full time will definitely help me to turn orders around on a much more timely basis. I realize I will probably hit some slow times, and I have prepared for that. But the slow periods will help me to finally build up some stock inventory, which will be a new feature on my website. You will be able to see what I have in stock for immediate shipment without having to wait for the whip to be made. I will fill in the gaps with some Ebay offerings as well, and I will also be adding snake and signal whips to the product line, along with some other non-whip realted items.

I will be kicking this all off with a whip giveaway. The giveaway will be for an 8 foot 12 plait Indy whip, with a maintenance kit included. To get in on the giveaway, drop me an email asking me to put your name in for the drawing. I'll be picking the name on Feb. 15th, and I'll have pictures of the whip in a couple of weeks.

Best regards & Happy New Year,
Jim

Wow Jim, a big congrats to you on taking this huge step. You are one lucky person to be doing what turns you on rather than being a small part of some corporate cog on a big wheel. There are not that many people on this planet that can say they are doing what they want. Good luck on your new venture.

Jim,

Does that mean that you'll be making them for Mark Allen; similar to Joe Strain and Paul Nolan, as well as others (I think Bernie's in that category too)?

Paul,

I have been contacted by several adventure supply type businesses which were interested in having me supply them, but I haven't made a deal with anyone yet. I haven't had any contact with Mark Allen at all about it. I'm not even sure he knows I exist!

Oh come on Jim, he knows. You would be surprised on how much he keeps tabs on what's happening. He's always working the "farm system" just in case. :-) Good luck again. Very envious.

Well if he knows of me he hasn't said anything to me about it , honest. I've never spoken to him about whipmaking. In fact, I think the last time I talked to Mark was at the 2001 WWAC. Not that I wouldn't be interested, though.

Hey Jim, that's fantastic news! I wish you the best success! I've also sent an email your way for the drawing. I'm in the very beginning stages of getting my Indy gear setup and would love a chance at your whip.

Take care.

Not yet. I should have them posted on my site by this Friday. I'll let you all know when they're up.

My official leap into full time will start on Feb. 16th. I have some little loose ends to tie up at my old job still, plus some annoying little details for the new business. I know a few of you are waiting on some orders you placed, and I should have them all done by months end.

Regards,
Jim

Congratulations. Its always good to see someone succeed. I get a lot of joy from making whips, and I'd certainly like to be able to devote more time to it. Also good to see that the tradition lives on.
