Hey, Mine's a David Morgan 8ft. Looks great and cracks well. There's loads of info on here, that's where I started. I may go for a Terry Jacka for my 2nd Whip. Happy hunting.

I'd like my friend to have a whip he'd like. He needs something that can take heavy abuse.

So I can recommend nylon whip or cowhide whip, these materials can get much more abuse than roohide.
Actually my favourite whip is 6ft 4plt cowhide stockwhip, I use it whole year so maybe something similiar could interest your friend?
