Is there a difference between a Magnoli shirt and a Wested?

Bags, Boots, Shirts and all other gear should be discussed here.

Is there a difference between a Magnoli shirt and a Wested?

Post by IndyMaster »

Hey guys. I have been trying to spot some differences between the Magnoli shirt and the Wested shirt. Maybe one difference (even though I'm looking for differences in design) is the options Magnoli gives for the color of the shirt. Maybe it's just the color of the Indy shirt color itself that's the difference? :-k

The Magnoli shirt is custom tailored, and is based on your measurements, made specifically for you and your specs, color, etc. The Wested shirt is 'off the rack'. Several of us are unwilling to admit we have a shirt collection, so don't think that you'll end up with just one. It takes some time - before you know it you will have a few of them. The fabric on all of these shirts is different, button type, color, and size. Detail placement changes from shirt to shirt, and from one size to another. Start searching!

I've read here that Wested shirt is more dress shirt. And it's baggy (I don't know how it looks now, maybe they've changed the pattern but check out threads with Wested shirt and look how baggy it is.)
Magnoli shirt, as Jake mentioned, is tailored so you can give him your exact measurements and you will get perfect shirt.
Cheers

The Wested shirt IMO is well... pure doo doo. I have 3 Magnoli shirts and they are by far some of the most SA shirts besides Azuma's shirts (I have 6 :[) . The only thing about Magnoli's shirts is that the material is a little too dressy for what Indy would have worn. Just my 2 cents

BTW, the Westeds are a cotton-poly blend with noticeably oversize buttons.  My favorite Indy shirts right now are newer WPG, newer Todd's, and Azuma. And not necessarily in that order. :whip:

Most of the off-the-rack shirts run a little slim through the middle to replicate the shirt HF wears. So, if you are not the typical body type that fits well in off-the-rack clothing, then I would definitely consider Magnoli. I am a satisfied customer.

Mammory glands pointed toward the sky. Get it now?

I have to say that my relationship with my Wested shirt is mixed. It is too loose around the middle (some guys need that!) and can be a bit stiff. It FEELS synthetic. However, it is great for certain outdoor activities, particularly fishing where I need sun protection and also want to keep excess water/spray and insects off of me, while still wearing something that can breathe.

I just ordered the last large Azuma shirt, so I'm looking forward to seeing how that one stacks up.

There IS a thread on here somewhere that you can find with a little searching that compares photos of all the shirts that he owns. You might want to check that thread out.

Ok, I get the TU. This site can always enlighten! I mistook the W&G for WPG. Forgive my ignorance, but who was W&G?

Like this one?

Nice shirt, but can it really be called in Indy shirt? I might buy one just because it LOOKS comfortable.

Not saying it isn't a spectacular shirt, just wondering if it isn't a slightly different animal than the Magnoli/Wested/Azuma/WPG offerings.

Now I have to have one though.

What Willig & Geiger web site.
That shirt looks nice, and I could always use another adventure style shirt.
