I have 4 Westeds, 1 G&B, 1 Todds, and 3 Nowaks. Now, this USW Hero jacket is without a doubt a great jacket, and better than most Westeds I might add, but it does NOT surpass a Nowak.....and it shouldn't. The Nowaks are built like Tanks and the leather is second to none and can be found no where else. Also, the level of customization and craftsmanship surpasses all other Indy jackets in the market right now. The Nowaks are worth their $700+ asking price. For $200, the USW hero jacket is a tremendous value but let's not get ridiculous here and compare it to a Nowak.

Believe it or not, I think it was your jacket Dawg, that had pictures posted of it back on the old Indy fan forum, that I
first saw, and wanted one.

Those pictures of the original US Wings "Vintage Cowhide" was exactly what I was looking for. A jacket that was new,
but did not look new, if you know what I mean.

I am pretty sure it was your jacket. Or at least a guy back then who used the name IndyDawg. I still have those
original pictures from that post somewhere.

Wouldn't that be a riot if it was?! Dawg is the only individual who has ever registered here under that name too!

Agreed!
  8)

You know...it would HAVE to have been my jacket. I was one of the first guys to get what, at that time, was called the "Old Cow" jackets....very vintage leather...very soft....but natural scarring and unbelievable grain throughout the jacket...a few months after starting to wear it, the think LOOKED like it had been through "50 Missions," but, obviously, was still practically new. I Pecarded the whole thing after using a coat of Sarge's "Blackrock" stuff he used to send out (maybe still does after request), and it just brought the whole thing back to all kinds of life!!!!

That was one GREAT jacket! Anything that comes close that THAT one is a sure-fire winner!

Oh, and as a side note, I just got this text from my nephew who will, hopefully, make an appearance of his own here in a bit...he says:
I just got my us wings jacket. Wow I'm stoked. This jacket is off the chain. Thank you so much for telling me about this deal. I absolutely love this jacket!
So, Sarge...if you get back to reading this again today....I think he likes it ;)

Regards!

Nice pics of the jacket, Sharkboy. You did a really great job in capturing the jacket. I need to get some pics of mine up as well (although they won't be able to match yours!).

I believe my post leans heavily on construction, materials and value. If I take out how I "feel" about my Nowak and compare it strictly on those other merits, my opinion remains unchanged. The leather is different. However, Wings has done other jackets using the same leather Tony used and I suspect it's every bit as bulletproof as his CS. Sarge knows how to make a jacket well. I agree that the TN is worth every penny I payed for it and the whole experience I had with Tony and the feeling I had made a friend is worth far more. Bringing this post back on target, the Hero is an awesome jacket made more so by the fact that most any one can afford one. You will get a jacket you can live in. It's just me, however once I get to a certain plateau in funds I tend to baby a thing so as not to damage it. I can't afford to replace very expensive items. Again, this is all relative and should not be taken as a slight against anyone. You will not be sorry if you get the Hero jacket...

I really wish I had a large along with my extra-large in the same room at the same time so I could be confident that I have the best fitting size for me. I love the fit of the jacket, but I've got this "what-if?" feeling wondering whether or not the large would be a better fit. There is a guy in a previous post who was 5'11" and 190 lbs and had a perfectly fitting large. I'm only an inch shorter and only 15 lbs more and I have an XL, so I can't help but wonder.

Still, perhaps this jacket will come in handy in the winter when worn over a sweater.

I'm 6'-1" and weigh 165 lbs with a slender frame and ordered a Med. The body of the jacket fits me absolutely perfectly, but the sleeves are about 1" too short, just enough to ride up my arm when stretched. I 've tried a Large from Wings before and they are huge on me! I guess I'll return mine for a refund, I hate it though, because it is an incredible jacket for the price!

Yo Fitch, I have a solution to your problem...return your size medium..send me an email with your name and address and I will send you a call tag. N/C for shipping. I will send you in 3 weeks, a medium long. Should fit you like a glove. You will be out no shipping. Solves your problem, keeps a smile on your face and will make the next fan very happy to get your medium.

I think that would be me...maybe. I'm ready to pull the trigger on this, but wanted to confirm the sizes...I think Med. is what I need, but there are 2 size ranges on the chart for med...? Pretty simple, I'm 5'9", 150# and wear a 38-40R (sometimes a 42R).

Any advice is much appreciated.

Wow. That's service! I sent my Med back today to try a Small. The Med overlaps my midsec. about 6" (3" from each side) and the sleeves are at least an inch too long. The shoulders are too wide too. I really think the small might work. I once tried a Med G8 and felt exactly the same, that a small would work. I never did try it though.

Wings recieved my medium jacket this morning hopefully the small will ship out tomorrow. I can't wait to get this jacket back in my hands. If Wings was just a little bit closer I would have driven over on Saturday and exchaged it myself in person but I didn't think my son would want to spend 11 hours, round trip, in a car on Saturday. :-s

Thanks Erin, (wish I could take credit for it) You are right the texture and color of the jacket are amazing. It photographs really well and the angle of the light really changes the surface and appearance. Not sure if I should frame it or wear it... :-k I think I'll wear it... :)
