I can't pin down exactly what aspect it is about the Fed, but this is the quintessential SOC hat in my eyes...kudos to Jason.

Re: Fedoraiders SOC Herbert Johnson - Showcase & Review thread!
This is the first thread I've posted to in many weeks...
but I just have to say a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Jason. You really did a most wonderful job on creating that hat!!!
Not that I'm saying anything that hasn't been said already, but it really is the most accurate hat I've ever seen. It's such a work of art "it belongs in a museum."
I can't wait for the opportunity to purchase one myself.
There aren't enough accolades to send that can express how amazed I am by that hat, and how proud I am of you to have weathered the storms around here, risen above, and produced such a wonderful offering.
WAY TO GO!!!

Jason, you are a miracle! I could not be more pleased. This hat is a dream come true.
Not much to say that hasn't been said, so I'll let the pics speak for themselves.
By the way, I took these about thirty minutes after getting the box open all by myself with my camera and tripod, so I will naturally update the pics when I can get a little help.
But here's what I have.

I'm SO IMPRESSED. Seriously.

Terrific looking hat, Daren, and it looks great on you as well.
I've never gotten the SOC bug yet (although I do think it's a great looking hat in all of its "shabbiness") but if I do get that fever, I know where I'm going for my prescription.

Wow, Daren....that looks outstanding!! I'm so curious as to how Jason does the dust around the ribbon. It's the little details like that on that hat that make it so perfect. Jealous big time

Daren, I'm relieved to see that you like your hat, i'm very very happy. I love your pictures!
Like I wrote on my customer letter, I swear that your hats will become better with time, it's sure and I make your hats in accordingly.
For your curiosity, I assure that I don't use the Fuller Earth because, I "think" that it's not good for the health and I don't like this product and I garenti that I don't use the bleach for the circle sweat. I use the only safe and good product.
Now, after this thread and since 2 weeks, I received many PM, many e-mail and I have more 20 hats to make but please, be patient because it's very very very long to make this hats and it's a hobby. It's for this reason that I don't want the cash now, I don't want the additional pressure. You pay (futur customers) just when I finish your hat and when i'm ready to ship your hat, but maybe next year, I will take a small deposit to guarantee me that you want a hat, maybe.
Honnetely, I think that it's a little bit too long to make these hats because it's a very long artisal work. The price it's again 400$ USD but I would like to advice you, the price will change in 2011. The shipping price varies by country.
Now, I took a little bit delay on my sedule because I have the customers on the others forums and in my country. Thank for your comprehension.
Thank you everyone for you good words.
I show you my first prototype of my SOC for children or Women (Small Size) that I made 2 months ago for a pleasure. This hat is a 52 CM. I blocked this hat with a smaller block that I made identical at my best block. I have a block 48 cm, 50 cm and 52cm. It's awesome to see this hat on the head of my wife and my daugther, it's a incredible sensation.
Thanks for looking!

If that's the case Daren, you sure did nail the look! But then again, all your gear looks just like Raiders in so many ways.
Liking the hats Fedoraraiders. I'd like to see one of these in person some day. I'm not sure if they would look good on me or not. You have to have that certain look that Harrison had to pull off the look. But looks good nonetheless and I will enjoy seeing photos of others with their hat on.

It's perfect for me if you love your hat Daren, I'm very happy to read this and read you other messages.
I made 4 hats for the guys in my country and they love their hats too.
I repeat, I take a little delay on my hat schedule because my daughter's school was closed 2 weeks in March and I work on the building of my little website with a friend and I work on the Peruvian version. I'm very busy but now, I feel good with this.
And, i'm affraid that this summer I would have approximately only 10 hours by week to built the hats. Anyway, I will continue the production slowly but surely. Note: We in Quebec, use often this expresion, slowly but surely.
Thanks!
Jason

Daren, that hat looks better every time I see it Did you by chance undistress the dust a little around the ribbon? Looks a bit more subdued than in previous pics? Again, you wear that thing well!! Maybe you can show it off at B2B this year?

Re: Fedoraiders SOC Herbert Johnson - Showcase & Review thread!
I recently received my SOC hat from Jason.
Without doubt it is THE best Indy Fedora I have ever owned. It is so accurately styled and distressed - I just couldn't fault anything about it. The brim styling is superb and all of the peculiarities only seen on Ford's Raiders hat are included in this hat. It's also a real bonus to have it made from a Herbert Johnson because in my opinion, the colour of the HJ's felt is truly unique. When you see it - it just "feels right". No other felt seems to have this particular colour in my experience (but I haven't owned EVERY hat from EVERY maker). It's stunning and Jason's turn around time was quick and his customer service flawless.
Thank you so much Jason - my quest for the perfect Indy Fedora has come to an end.

Thanks Michaelson.
I did have to let my costume display mannequin go a few months ago, but I'm still very much into this and am happy to add this SOC HJ to my collection. Looking forward to receiving one of Bernardo's "Raiders 2" bullwhips soon to complete my little wall display.
Regards,
Chris

I'm glad you like your hat and thank for this beautiful message. Last week, I have seen your name on another forum in the jacket section and I did not know that you were a big fan of Indiana Jones. I see for the first time the pictures of your display mannequin that you sell since but I'm realy realy impressive by this mannequin and the gears.Chris_King wrote:I recently received my SOC hat from Jason.

Re: Fedoraiders SOC Herbert Johnson - Showcase & Review thre
Just wanted to post some recent shots that feature my treasured Fedoraiders Streets of Cairo Hat that the amazingly talented Jason Lavallee made for me.
Previously, jnicktem posted in this Thread on my behalf due to some problems I was experiencing with Photobucket (since resolved)...
With Nick's co-operation (and Dalexs' permission) I've had most of my earlier photos scrapped so that I could post these below without exceeding my count.
My family and I visited my Aunt & Uncle's Cabin last weekend in the Mahone Bay area of Nova Scotia in Canada... my trusty Fedoraiders Hat - now 6 months older - came with me.
Here's a couple of shots taken with my son and his dog...
A Link to a more candid shot taken by my wife that shows another angle of the Fedoraider Hat:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e38/M ... C09474.jpg
There's lots of great greenery in the area that surround the cabin, so I had my wife snap several more photos while I turned my head this way & that in order to show the hat from plenty of angles (that I hope make for useful info to you SoC lovers out there!)
I love how getting photos taken while sunlight streams down through the overhang of leaves and branches makes for great splotches of light and shadow on a hat... moreso when it's a fedora with as much character - and interesting contours - as the SoC: the grooves and slopes really get defined in this sort of setting and with THIS kind of lighting.
Here's another Link to a few shots where the lighting was a little "warmer"...
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e38/M ... forCOW.jpg
More turning my head "this way 'n' that" to get a few more angles...
And lastly, 3 more Links to some shots similar to the ones in that shot above, but a little bigger so you can see some additional detail.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e38/M ... 9889-1.jpg
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e38/M ... 9894-1.jpg
Hope you all enjoyed the updated look at this great hat and found it informative/helpful!
Jason, if you're reading this: I love my Fedoraiders SoC Herbert Johnson even MORE today than when I first got it...
Thank you again, my friend!

Nick, you're very kind... but my wife "takes" the best pictures!
I'M just the guy who's been lucky enough to buy his Gear from some GREAT Vendors and Artists
(and, in the case of this particular Hat, I'm just the mug who's lucky enough to be UNDER it when the photo's taken!)
But I'll happily take your compliment... it's MUCH appreciated, my friend
(and thanks again for the assist in this Thread!)

(and, in the case of this particular Hat, I'm just the mug who's lucky enough to be UNDER it when the photo's taken!)
But I'll happily take your compliment... it's MUCH appreciated, my friend

Wow Mitch, It's a amazing pictures and your hat is beatiful, I love it.
You take the realy good pictures with the good angles. Your hat on the picture with the Lake front you is identical at the Cairo explosion.
With the time my hats have a realy better look and it's normal. It's the same thing with the hat in Raiders and with my personnal hat. I think that my little video give the tricks.
I like your dog, I think that is a Schnauzer, your son have beautiful dog. My fammily and I have a Shih Tzu.
Thanks for sharing this my friend.
For the pleasure, this is 3 pictures to my vacation this summer with my new hat.

GLAD you like the photos, Jason
As you mentioned, it just seems to get better and better as time passes.
You were right about the breed of dog... she's a little Miniature Schnauzer named "Pepper" (my son named her when he was about 5 years old)
I like your submarine photos, but even MORE I like the fact that almost immediately you mentioned that they wouldn't let you RUN on it!
I laughed so hard because I thought "If anyone would be daring/crazy enough to flat out ask them if he could it would be JASON!"... but my friend, I was a little surprised that you didn't also write "No matter how many times I asked them, they wouldn't let me tie myself to the periscope with my whip!"
Cheers!
Mitch
