The search is over. I don't think there's anything else to say*.

*except "sorry", in the event that someone else had the unmitigated gall to post this already. If not, well...you can thank me later.

I do want that - not entirely sure what your point is - ironic or otherwise. ;) Vanson make famous, premium quality bike gear (Dr House wears a classic Vanson, as does Wolverine - but I'm not a fan of either productions) very nice and durable, will outlive most Indy jackets, but will be very, very heavy, like 7 pounds. :o This one is a classic 1950's utility jacket design.

I'm thinking more in terms of composing the shiniest Indy kit possible. I think this is a good place to start.

I think that looks pretty nice. It reminds me of some of the designs put out by Aero. Although, I think I would rather have a custom Aero or Good Wear, but those have gotten to be even more expensive lately.

really? i think it looks all right. good points: vanson, horsehide, $700 is not a bad price for a brand new horsehide jacket, classic stylings

bad points: i can't stand wearing things that look brand new....this horsehide is going to look like that for a very, very, very long time.

in an era where a gent can only afford one jacket....horsehide was a good choice because it was pretty much bulletproof. would take years to break in and then another decade to destroy.

i like it. wouldn't buy it.....and it's not really fair comparing it to an indy jacket (cuz this one is probably designed correctly :Plymouth: )

If I was going to fork over that kind of cash it would be a jacket from Riley, but that is just IMO. They jacket is very nice if you intend to drive a motorcycle that i will agree upon. It is a very nice jacket, just could not justify getting one myself.

I'm looking for a reasonably priced half-belt horsehide! This jacket is so close. I'd like the shoulders gusseted/pleated, however, and I wonder why they never put storm flaps on these jackets (even an internal storm flap). Anyways, maybe Riley can do a Surrogates in horsehide. Tony turned down my request for an Indy jacket in horsehide, but later didn't someone say he had an American Stallion hide? Or maybe I'll drop by Johnson Leather sometime and see what they can do too.

Tony did have American Stallion - he sent me a sample. Very tough stuff - brown with strong reddish undertones. The sample I received was pretty stiff.
