EBAY SCAM WARNING!!!!

Post by WyoWilliam »

There's a guy on ebay, with a surprisingly high feedback rating, claiming to be auctioning off the "FIRST INDIANA JONES HAT". One that, on the set, Harrison Ford tossed to him after finding that it was too big.
It's not even a Herbert Johnson - looks like some tan crushable Australian thing with a leather band and crown vents.
PLUS he's included a poorly photoshopped pic of him "with" Harrison Ford. If he wasn't asking $450, which some poor sap might actually fall for, it would be funny.
I've already written him and warned him about it. Anyone eles who would like to point out the flaws in his story can find the auction with this #: 160441906894

The funny thing is, in that picture, Harrison is clearly too old for it to have been taken on the set of Star Wars. Well, I guess that's not the only funny thing about that auction.

I know!! I just got off the phone with ebay. They've been trying to contact the seller all morning, whose account has apparently been hacked and is being used by someone else to sell this.

I wonder whose face that actually is? LOL

The guy knows he's been caught - he's now asking people to email him if he doesn't relist it. (ie. if ebay kills it, which they should.)

I got this message this morning:

"I am completely embarrased and furious. I discoved that this was the work of my son and I assure you he has been severly punished. I have been a legitiment eBayer for many years and he has put my reputation at risk. This item will be removed from auction immediatlly."

If true, I think that kid needs to have his computer privledges revoked for life.

I noticed the head that was photoshopped in was taken from the pic that's on the seller's feedback profile page.

I see plenty of people on here or on other boards in general who can't spell or just don't care in this texting era.

This is hilarious! The scam and the thread... a fake picture with a guy's head edited on Brad Pitt's "girly" body, the whole notion of meeting Harrison Ford during the Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark shootings, and even the way the hat looks itself, actually. What a far cry from any of the Indy hats... I laughed for a good minute at it all.

Oh yeah, and $450 really isn't all that much, for supposed "financial reasons." He would have to be very desperate, which he's probably not if he's able to use a computer in the first place... Actually, I feel bad for the guy, if this was really done during a hack of his eBay account.

I think it's a bargain...and the hat !!! Talk about SA. Even has authentic bullet holes in the crown and no taper what-so-ever...

Must be real.

You know, with the right makeup and angular costume, a person could create a video-game indy look with this hat and costume... ;)

He responded to anyone who asked questions about the ligitimacy of his item just before it ended. He claimed the auction was done by his son and that his son would be punished  That he is a proud and good upstanding ebayer (because selling bootleg software is upstanding lol) and it will never happen again.

](*,) Ebay never pulled it even though there were tons of RPF members reporting it as a fraud. Of course eBay would prefer to get their chunk of the final value fee on an item that large if it sold :/
