New Saddle Tan Raiders in Cowhide

Post by classicbullwhips »

Here is a version my new Raiders Cowhide in Saddle Tan, up until now I was only making them in Natural Tan. Below is a picture of a 8ft Raiders in Saddle Tan and a picture of both the Saddle Tan and Natural version together (both are 8ft). Let me know what you all think.

I've got a question James, how do you pare/skive (I'm not sure of its proper name) strands?
I mean that there is a darker "line" between each strand. Do you know what I mean?

tomek,

For proper names of beveling leather, if I recall correctly you pare a skin and you skive a hide.

I know, "what's the difference between a skin and a hide?"

A hide is from a larger animal like a cow and a skin is something smaller like kangaroo.

So typically you'd pare kangaroo and skive cow.
