What does it look like?

Has anyone distressed a authenic goat. If so how did it look pictures please. How hard is it to distress compared to other leather lamb, cow. I also hear that goat can have a gray color and not the desired black and brown we all seek. Any info would be great?

IMHO, if you are set on a goatskin, and thinking of heavily distressing it, I personally wouldn’t go with the authentic goat since it’s suppose to be close to the ‘overall’ color already - meaning you can’t add rich dark tones as easily. Which also means you may just wind up making the jacket lighter than you want. Now if you went with the dark brown goatskin, you have the dark already and can concentrate on adding various shadings of lighter tones (old oil painting adage - if you want to show light you need to have dark) as shown here for a very rich looking jacket:

And I don’t see any gray in ITG’s fine jacket.

But if your looking for “easy,” you might just want to add various amounts of Fuller’s Earth to your jacket since using acetone or nail polish will require some elbow grease and may easily tire you out, at least your upper arm, in order to achieve a well distressed jacket like the one shown in the link. Oops, 15 yards for piling on.
