Bag strap rubbing off

Post by Bones »

I recently received my ToD/LC strap from Keppler, and I've been wearing it a lot at work. And wow, my shirt gets terribly dirty where the strap touches. Is there anything I can do to seal or prevent the strap from doing this? Does lexol work for this?

Thanks,
Bones

Hey Bones. I read somewhere here that you can lightly sand the strap, and then seal it back up with some pecards. I'm got a Keppler strap on the way, and I was wondering about that also.

I made my own strap, so it's not quite the same scenario, but here goes. After I finished dying, sealing, and treating my strap with Lexol, the dye kept transferring just like yours is. After trying just about everything, I found that the best remedy is what Michaelson says in the bag faq. You have to just keep buffing the strap with a clean cloth until the dye stops rubbing off. It's rather frustrating, but in the end, it worked for me.

here's a link to the faq http://www.indygear.com/faq/bagfaq.shtml

Slap some Mop-N-Glo on it. It works as a sealer.

Thanks Lee. I would have never guessed "Mop-and-Glow" in a million years. I'll try it out when my strap arrives.
