Another disappointment from wested

Post by Nicolas Jones »

Yep,

Some of you might remember the problem I had with my LC jacket:
unreachable hand warmers when wearing it, zipped or not.
This sz44 was shorter than my sz42...

I had to wait more than 3 months to receive the new one BUT:
The action pleat is not 1" deep as requested...
The front is not 2" longer than the back as requested...

Result: AGAIN I am not satisfied :x .

Who makes those jackets? Someone who has never learned to read?

Wested:
"you have purchased an authentic replica and not an unauthorised or inferior copy"
Realy???? ](*,)

Regards,

Nico

Make it the last disappointment from Wested for yourself at least. Don't throw good money after bad.
Sorry to hear you're not happy, but it's hardly an exclusive club you've joined! :)

I have some back problems, the first jacket (which did not fit) with a 1" deep action pleat what great on THAT point.

This time it almost fit but It would have been perfect if they had followed my reaquests.

I think I'm gonna sell it

Nico

Yeah, post pics. I'm having a really hard time understanding exactly what the problem is, especially the part about getting your hands in the hand warmers. They are high up by design, since the jacket doesn't go much below the waist anyway. I'm curious to see what you mean.

I'm also having trouble envisioning what kind of back problem requires a custom made jacket.

I'm not making fun of you, I just don't really understand where you are coming from on your alterations. Photos would help.

you really need to have a LC/CS jacket to understand what this whole handwarmer thing is about.

the armholes are pushed more infront of the jacket and go low on the side panels. this will make it hard to enter the sidepockets.

So is this something that is normal for all LC/CS jackets, or is he saying that his is even WORSE than expected?

The essentricities of the LC jacket style and cut differenciate it from the Rola cut. I personally think that the Rola cut lends itself to more functionality and FOM, freedom of movement, especially in the sleeves and pits areas than does the LC. But that is the peculiararity of that design, just different from the other.

On the other hand, if you requested specs a certain way and they are not incorporated into the finished product then that is a different matter alltogether.

Sorry to hear about your difficulty.

Five years on, I love my Wested Raiders, and after my wife and kids, it's the first thing I'd grab in a fire.

I'm very sorry that you've been disappointed, Nico.

However (and this isn't directed at Nico), here's the thing, and I'm not trying to be facetious, but, problems with Wested's offerings are well documented. People should know its a @#$% shoot and shouldn't be surprised if they come away less than happy.

Well, I must said, that my Custom LC Jacket from Wested fits me quite well.
But, like I said earlier - 3 or 4 measurement (they can ask about circumference of my shoulder (so the sleeves would fit perfectly, they can ask also about my girth, so the lower part of jacket would fit perfectly, and others) are not enough to made real custom jacket. But after all, why didn't I simple give them that extra measurements? Next time I will.
And there should be a lot more pictures on their site, so everyone can see how Jacket look, what specific materials looks like, and what are those da...ed gussets, that I should order, but since they were extras i decided not to.
Still, I am very happy of what I get - my jacket fits me well. It's just, it can fits me better...

Well, by all accounts, he has read such threads in the past. In fact, there was one specific thread created for that very purpose (which, like so many, ended up going by the wayside). He knows these threads and complaints exist, but as much as we would like the man to respond directly, that is his call whether to respond or not. It is up to the customer to infer what he or she may regarding purchase decisions after that. That said, let's keep this one between the rails.

In the thread I started " I just need help with this jachet thing" This was my complaint. The handwarmer pockets. the jacket fits good, but whith my hands in the pockets it looks like the back of my upper arms are about to rip through. I should have ordered the gussets. Like I said I'm rather V shaped with wide shoulders and only a 30" waist so I believe I ordered one size to small. I'll give credit when it's due, and the measurements are what I gave them, the leather is thick and well put together, It just seems the armpit holes are way to big. Maybe it's the cut, I don't know, I'm no expert by any means. It is made out of the distressed hide so I gave it a good helping of pecards and love the color now and I do wear it. I'm just waiting for the US Wings to get here. I figure the wings will be my everyday one and when I go all SA I'll wear the wested. I really don't us handwarmers on any of my jackets anyway.

I sent an email to Wested (Gemma),
She/They know(s) about this post.

I have decided to sell the LC from wested (I gonna loose some € but whatever...) and buy the beauty from US wings "Vintage Adventurer Jacket" (Ok I ll have to spent twice the price...)

By the way, see it on us wing site and tell me if it is an inferior copy...

regards,

Nico

I own a Wested custom LC in Novapelle: I love it but the handwarmers are difficult (but not impossible) to reach. I think (repeat, THINK) it depends on the design of the jacket itself and not by a Wested mistake; the harmholes are strange by design and the jacket tends to stretch when arms are open or moved alot: in the movie see the scene "hands up" scene at Castle Brunwald and look how the open jacket move and go up. :[

That said I not condone the customs errors on given measures. As I said in the past I think Wested should stop to accept more extra customs requests than those listed on their site focusing more on customs standard measures. Is quite clear that they are unable to manage it at their best. And it is a shame because I think they do excellent jackets for an excellent price. ;)

yeah. there is a distinction: the cargo pocket are the front ones, the ones with the flap. the hand warmers are the side ones, in which you can easily put your hands :TOH:

 As a fellow LC jacket owner I get this. But relatively easy, yes. Compared to the ones with the flaps, the cargo pockets, at least ;)

All I have to say is if I didn't like the jacket I would have sent it back, and I still have it. :TOH: The way I see it, if my hands get cold I'll reach into the cargo pockets and pull out a pair of gloves. Don't much like the feeling of a straight jacket anyway. ;)
