Tundrarider,
That strap looks amazing! Very nicely done. If I had the leather skills I would attempt to do one myself. Nice work. :H:

Now my only question is where do we need to go to get a 7/8 strap? :D

I LOVE this strap!!! I go back and forth on the TOD/LC/KotCS strap being 1" or 7/8"...This has put me back in the forth camp!!! I really do think the strap is slightly narrower. GREAT JOB!!!!

Never say never Michael! ;) I do think that I am more solidly in the narrower camp though. Oh, and not to cause your OCD to flare up, but are you gonna bend that buckle any?

Michael,

That strap looks great! That would be my first choice in straps if I ever found myself hanging off of the side of a tank. ;)

I have been kicking around the idea of making my own 7/8" strap to go with my (mostly) LC style gear. After seeing your's (and finding the correct 7/8" buckles), I think I'll go for it.

I've been preaching this, with screen grabs, for years. It's nice that so many have now finally clued in.

Michael, Awesome job buddy! As we've come to expect from you.

Good news! I now have the 7/8" buckles in stock and can make this strap in addition to my regular offerings. Both camps can come on in cause now you can have your cake and eat it too!

I'll add them to my site shortly. In the meantime you can PM with questions.

I'll have to take your word on it.
I'd be willing to give it a try, but I can't seem to remember where I parked my tank.

Micheal,

Nice job.  :notworthy: :TOH: Great attention to detail on the hand stitching. I still have a few 7/8 straps left for anyone interested. My strap also has the buckle hand sewn in place. PM me for more info. I wish I could have made this one for you Micheal, but the extra tall strap length was not available at the time.

See where all this got started! www.indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=43469

I really like the stitching, too! It's my preference with bag straps to sew the buckle on and use the Chicago for the bag end. I'm pretty sure the Raiders screen used strap had two rivets on the buckle end and one big copper rivet on the bag end. The stitching really reinforces the attachment better and also has less wear and tear on the leather over time. Plus, it just looks cool.

Wow Michael what a great job on the stitching! The strap turned out awesome.

Here's some pics of my Jake's 7/8" strap to compare with. I too distressed mine by smash/rolling it back into itself. It creates great looking horizontal lines.
