New Strain!

Post by mlawson »

My Joe Strain whip came in today and I took some photos. 8 foot, saddle tan.

I also ordered some kangaroo skins for a few upcoming builds of my own. It looks terrific, thanks Joe!

Joe allways made nice whips, and very, very fast.

You will love this Strain whip.

Happy cracks.

I have two of Joes whips, and I must say they are the Crown Jewels of my collection. Congratulations on a great purchase!

Gorgeous! Those saddle tan hides of Joe's are my favorite, and when he's done with them...WOW! I have a 9' version of this whip...it only gets more beautiful as it ages. My next whip from Joe will also be saddle tan. Enjoy that work of art! :TOH:

I am really impressed with it, it's an incredible level of refinement. I have so much more to aspire to now with my own whip making.

Very Nice! I'd love to crack one of those someday.

How long does it usually take to brake in one of those?

I don't know, but I imagine that it takes a while, it is inhumanly tight. When I unpacked it and held it by the handle, the whip did move from its coiled position, it was frozen in place, THAT'S how tight it is! As I said, I am incredibly impressed with his work. I used it briefly today, it cracked nicely, very smooth.

Guys,
Just to give you an idea of how insanely tight his whips are.... Mine is two years old and the tip is still "ultra" tight!

Crack On! :whip:

I'm actually going to be selling mine and it KILLS me! It really is the most BEAUTIFUL whip I own. It's one year old, finally broken in (Strains take some time) and the patina is PERFECT! I'm designing a very custom whip from Joe and the only way I can swing the order at this time is to sell this beauty. :( The custom will MOST DEFINITELY be saddle tan! Like natural tan, it's patina gets better and BETTER with age, use and dressing. I'd describe it as so: Saddle Tan is "richer" than Natural Tan right out of the box. Give it 1 year and you'll have the PERFECT patina that would normally take over 15 years (if ever) to accomplish in Natural Tan.

I actually had listed it before, but the deal fell through at the last minute. At first I was RELIEVED, because I really want to keep it, but after 2 months of having to postpone my custom order I've worked up the will power again. I'll be posting the 9' Indy on the "Cairo Bazaar" as soon as I can.

Nice choice for a whip overall. My Strain is 6 years old and has been trained wonderfully. It's one of my favorite whips because it's gracefulness. I'd love to own another in the future. Be sure to share a photo of it in the future once it's aged real well.
