Well, I'm wearing a pair of Dark Khaki's right now, and by looking at the couch photo, those pants are MUCH MUCH lighter in the photo than in real life. I'll have to get a pair and compare them to my Taupe microfibers.
The color almost reminds me of the Wrangler khakis I stumbled upon at Wal-Mart...there have been some threads on them in the past. They're okay, but I use them for my "distressed" wear. When I wear khakis, they are usuallly Blackhawk tactical pants (mostly because I get a huge discount on them )...the Frat boy image here at UNC pretty much ruined my love of khakis for the near future.
Have most of you ordered these unfinished? Or do you have it cuffed? I figure with it coming unfinished, you can get the 'military hem' at the bottom, though I've been wrong before.

Thanks.
I order them hemmed. It's cheaper (I can't do a decent hem to save my life), less hassle, and I don't care if I have a military hem or not, especially on these. They are already only close-enoughs.

^^^ That's what I figured as well...close enough for now!
Well, I just got my pair, and I like 'em. Funny to hear the comparison to the Wrangler's from Walmart because that's what I'm wearing right now. These new ones are a touch lighter, and more tan than the Wrangler's. They're quite comfy and well put together. Now, if Todd will just get his pants on the market!

Agreed...I hold a degree from that institute of lower education and they pretty much have ruined khakis.
The LL Bean 'close enough' pair I have now (the 'Taupe' ones) have served me well. Too bad this new product has come a little late for me (actually, six months late!) but for now, I am going to continue to go with what I have as it captures the look and the color really is not that bad at all. I'm holding out for what Todd has coming our way.
I am looking forward to seeing some pics of these from buyers real soon....so hurry up and get them in the mail!!!
It was night when I took them and its raining right now. I'll try to get some pics outside later.
The trousers themselves are very nice, I think they will be a nice alternative to the wool for the warmer months.
Now I just need to know how to dye them to be a little more SA.
When I get them hemmed, I'll post pics of them being worn.
Thanks, and per your request here are some next to Azuma's last crusade shirt:
Sorry for the terrible quality. It's been pouring all day and I can't take any pics outside.
Personally, I'd prefer them to be a tad darker in contrast to the shirt.
Looking at the pic I posted above and this one, I'm surprised by how differently these photographed.
If the rain lets up tomorrow, I'll take them outside and snap a shot or two.
That's a bummer about the color,Tundrarider. I was really hoping for a dark brown raider shade.
They would give me rear pocket flaps, that my current "close enough" Bean pants lack.
Tundrarider wrote:Well, I bought these and to me the color is too light for Indy pants. I was really surprised, as they turned out to be way lighter than the color advertised on the web site. I was considering keeping them for Indy pants and dying them like I did with my LL Bean Dark Khaki pair, but why? I already have a pair of dyed LL Beans!!! I was hoping these would also be a bit more baggy, but the thigh measures the same as my other Bean's.
(The pair on the left are my dyed Beans. After dying, the color compared almost identically with a pair of Wested's I had on hand.)
If you already have a pair of taupe don't bother getting these...almost the same exact color, picture on the LL site is no where close to real world color.
The only benefit of these is they are all cotton, so if you wanna chance dying them then the all cotton will take to that well.
Not to dredge up old news, but I got a pair of the driftwood LL Beans recently. They are an improvment for me in that I now have the rear pocket flaps that my other Bean pants lacked.
I am planning on doing Tundrarider's RIT brown dye routine to improve the color. I'll try to snap some pics and perhaps do a seperate thread showing how the process works. Sounds easy enough!
