Business is business, but it would not be good to increase prices in a down economy. If people are strapped for cash, it makes them less likely to make a purchase, no? Just thinking in general terms concerning consumer goods in general. All the more reason to make a prudent purchase while prices are good.

Ok, up til today I'd decided not to purchase another jacket as I have one old USW leather from ebay (an older one really distressed) and a newer signature cowhide from July 2008 and two westeds, a 46 and 48. Since I bought the 2XL long back in 2008, I've lost about 60-70 lbs and that things is baggy. It's also always been a little long.

So the question I have for someone who is ~200 lbs and 6'1"-6'2" (46-48 suit coat I think) and 38-40 waist. Would these regular length jackets be ok? It looks like I need ~23" back length from base of the collar and about a 37" sleeve length from center neck.

Also, any news on when the lamb or goat will be available or should I go ahead and pre-order the cowhide so as to not miss the price?

Edit: I notice that the light lamb G-1/A-2 are available in black or brown, any news on colors of the indy jackets?

The operative question before any proper assessment can be made is how you want it to fit.....

Snug? You might want to go with a size smaller than you think you'd need....

Room to layer/-order what the size chart says to order. ;)

As to the dates on the lambskin-somewhere around 90 days out....per Sarge. And if you want one of the cowhides, you might want to go ahead and pre-order. It won't cost you a dime to reserve one and get your name on the list, and if you change your mind when they come in, no biggie-they'll just move to the next person on the list!

Also just got a reply from Sarge, I'm going with the XL cow. Its just too good a price to pass up, and I'm swimming in the 2XL I bought in '08. Bad news on the lamb front. Looks like they'll be $295 with the leather prices going up. :(

I'm also waiting to hear if black will be available, I really need a light-weight black jacket. Its just not cold enough often enough for the heavy one I do have. And by getting a black, it's not the "same" jacket so it's easier to convince the wife. ;)

Is Sarge already taking pre-orders on the lambskin?? I know he is taking pre-orders on the cow offerings, just was wondering what the time table is for the lamb. I think I read previously last week around 90 days is this correct??

Ha ha!

Just got off the phone with Wings. Got my cowhide pre-ordered and they're going to let me do layaway once it comes in! \:D/ That's only $71 over three months, I can handle that no problem. And I won't be wearing it until fall anyway. Now if only the lambs can still come in at $195 :( Oh well, one more jacket is probably all I should buy now anyway.

Anyone want to buy a lightly worn 2XL long Wings VIP cowhide from July 2008?

I wonder if this means the striated lamb old style are going to be more than the $295 because of the leather prices going up?

I hope not! From what Indydawg said, if the leather is already sourced, I feel pretty good that the prices quoted for these jackets will hold (at least for a while).

And that's great news about the layaway. I might go that route for the striated (I've got the funds set aside for the cowhide). This should help those that are leaning toward getting one of these to go ahead and pull the trigger.

Sarge's email sounded pretty sure, though with emails who knows. This is what he said:
That Cow Indy is a special deal only and next run will go up $ 100.00 at least.

Lamb.. Don’t know about the price..It is going up and as it stands today they will come in at $ 295.00 but all leather is going up !!

Crazy business.

Regards,

Sgt. Hack
Unless he's talking about the striated lamb? Hope so! I would really love a lighter weight indy-style jacket for $195

Just sent an e-mail off to Sarge requesting a reservation for a size Med. I feel that should fit well at 5' 10" 165 lbs and wearing a 42R in a Wested.

Scot-I am very similar to you in size, wore a 42-44 Wested (the 44, when I wanted a baggy fit, the 42 when I wanted it to fit perfectly), and I wear a Med Wings..

You should be good to go!

Well, I bit the bullet today and placed my order for the Antique Leather... I just can't see passing up this offer. Maybe in another month or two I'll go for the striated lamb :-k

My wife's already asking me why I need 2 more of "those" jackets. ](*,)

Right, crismans...no one pays until the jackets get here, and Sarge starts down the list of those who reserved one. THAT'S when you pay, if you still want the jacket...

It really is a tempting jacket, but the photos of the Sgt. Hack wearing one makes it look much lighter. If I could verify the above pictures coloration, and see a close-up of the hide for texture, I might jump. But if the Hack pics are more accurate, then ...

I believe CB means center back or some such. When measuring shirts that's the same measurement. And comparing to my 2XL Long Wings jacket, I get approximately the chart measurement. So center back, over the shoulder, down the outside of the arm.

The reason sleeve measurements are done this way I think is because the shoulder seam falls in different places depending on the jacket or shirt (or the person for that matter). If they were to give from the shoulder seam, and the seam falls down the arm a bit, then the sleeve length is off. This way its independant of how big your shoulders are.

The more I look at that chart, the more convinced I am that I really do just need a size Small. 24" chest and 35 1/2" sleeve is just way too big for me. I'll have to e-mail Sgt. Hack again. According to those numbers, a Small should be perfect.

I've just been exchanging e-mails with Sarge, and he is insisting that a Medium will be fine, so I will trust his judgement.

He seems to be a really nice guy, and had some very nice things to say about COW, and Michaelson in particular. I'm very excited to get my hands on one of these jackets trying not to think about the measurements on that chart!

Also, the jacket seems to be in very limited supply with only 150 available.

Forest-you're going to be good to go with that Medium, I think. I'm only 2" taller and ten lbs heavier than you....and the medium fits me like a glove. I really think that's what you want to go with.....unless you want it to fit like a shirt.

I get more excited with ever passing day on this!

Oh, and Chewie...I think the pics of Sarge wearing the jacket that I posted in photobucket show the leather as lighter than it really is....Lots of flash in those pics.

Counting the days!!! And the fact that Sarge upped the order to 150....very cool, sir...thank you!

High Regards!

If the retail really is $499, which means they usually have a perma-sale for around $399, that's like half off... that's amazing..

Wings today said that the lightweight lamb order is still up in the air, maybe a decision in 30 days or so. But definitely no black! :( Oh well, I need to get a light black Indy or Indy-ish jacket at some point.

Wait, do you mean the MAKING of the lamb is in question, or the price?

For black, I highly recommend their black goatskin Indy. In terms of usefulness, it is probably #1 in my collection. It goes with everything, it's not overly heavy, but warm if layered, and it repels rain quite well.

I didn't even mention price when I called today. I just wanted to know whether black would be available in the proposed light-weight lamb made overseas. I spoke to a lady and she put me on hold while she went to ask as she didn't know anything about a light-weight lamb made of the same material as the G-1/A-2. When she came back she said it was still "up in the air" and to check the website probably in about 30 days but that if it happens, definitely no black.

Wings used to send out a product called Blackrock with their jackets, but I swear by Pecards. It's a beeswax based product that comes in a tub with the consistency of a more solid pommade. Great stuff-and water proofs the leather for months.

In those pics he is wearing a jacket 3 sizes too large. I have asked to see a picture in which the jacket actually fits, but I think Sarge must be kinda busy right now.

Not to mention, the exact place it lands will vary up-or-down based on the pocket placement of ones pants, as well as ones specific body proportions. Those with a shorter torso will have very different results than those with a longer torso. But the ballpark length should be close to what we see on screen.
