It's been a few years since I made a whip, but I have been feeling the urge to make another, so about a month ago I put this one together with kip bought from my local Tandy. Unfortunately I cut the strands too wide and did not taper them quickly enough so the braid is a little crowded and it did not plait as tightly as I wanted. It's a little sloppy in other places too, but at least I learned a few things for next time. I have been cutting with a strander and I'm thinking about making the leap to hand-cutting, I just don't want to mess up my next projects in the process of learning. We will see...
I am also waiting on a Joe Strain whip I ordered a few weeks back, it's sitting in customs now , I will take photos when I get it. I ordered some kangaroo hides from him as well, I think that I'm done with kip for the foreseeable future.
