I loved the whole bit with the personal Star Wars exprert calling out the LFL employee.
"LIAR" and "SAD" cracked me up!!

I have a feeling that it is not one of the original whips we see (or the other props in that section).
I doubt they would just leave it lying on the ground next to a window in a random hallway.

It's definitely a broken in/used Morgan though. There were a bunch of Morgan's ordered for the last movie that were never used, and judging by the handle proportions (although it's a little hard to see) it might be one of those. Maybe they keep it out there because...well...they can. It might not be a random hallway, and I'm sure there are a few VIPs that would like to actually handle the goods (like Conan). That hallway is probably the best place for it. There is a LOT of stuff I'm seeing at this place that I'm wondering why it's not behind glass!

I'd bet alot of the props displayed in that area are replicas or unused back-ups.
At least I hope that the AT-AT that Conan destroys is a replica

That passageway (bridge) is the link between the main reception/office complex and the ILM building and there are a LOT of original props and models lined up on either side of the hallway (Draco minatures, Pirate's of the Carrib. model heads and reference material, model car bodies etc. etc.). On the LFL side there is the original massive house model built for Limony Snickert and the rusted carousel used in AI and then on the other side, the big models and animatronic puppets made for Ghostbusters and the original painting of Viggo…

All throughout the entire building complex there are original props and paintings hanging everywhere - some behind glass and others not. The displays can also change now and then but certainly for Conan's visit they added a few extra pieces just for him to use in production. Each piece is a testament to artistic skills that are of the highest order and its hard not to spend an hour just studying each item simply because they are ALL so magnificent!

BTW. in the ILM reception there is a full-size Jar-Jar in carbonite hanging on the wall right next to the original Solo model. It was a fan piece that Lucas enjoyed so much that he acquired it ..

Well, the irony is that because there is so much done as digital these days, most of the items on display are from the old ILM model shop that was sold by George about three years ago.

In the new digital movie making world, there is not a huge mount that exists that can be shown off as physical props and even the original front door from the old model shop in San Rafael (labelled as "Kerner Optical) was hung up in the new Letterman complex.

In general, be it Disney, Dreamworks, Lucasfilm, Digital Domain or the old Stan Winston studios, the stuff displayed in any of the studios is a celebration to artistry of the highest order but then, that's what's expected of the people who work there so its no surprise. Stan Winston used to have the coolest boardroom in Hollywood displaying his physical props in order to promote his studio's skills and now you see similar displays in the other studios all serving the same promotional purposes….

One wonders if we are witnessing the begining of the end of the "model/prop making" era for film. So sad if it is, I myself love to see props used in films.

Perhaps in the near future we will only see flat screen showing again and again CGI, and no longer any physical models and props.

I can't quite understand how Conan managed to hit himself in the back. I didn't even notice the whip hit him. The only reason I know he was hit was because he yelped.
