Dilema, or call 'em like you see 'em...

Post by Texan Scott »

Several weeks back, I had purchased a Wested in their Clearance section, a copper NP, but it was too short, at 25", so I sent it back, then decided to order a custom, soft goat.

The jacket was supposed to be a custom, Rotla. I received a jacket that fits well, but it has a large gague, #8 zipper, which as you may know, should not even have been an option for a custom Rotla. A gaudy, silver piece of work. The left pocket stitches are already tearing away, (and this is basically from just trying it on and wearing it maybe 3 times), around the bottom of the hand warmer, and the pockets are about 5 3/4" wide, closer to the smaller ToD specs. The sleeve seams and the bottom of the yoke line up.

Maybe it is like the auto industry. Don't buy a car that was assembled on a Monday or Friday...? :?

Would you send it back for a replacement?

I'm surprised people still take the risk with Wested, after all of the horror stories that have been floating around here. I sure as heck won't take another chance on Wested, but I would return it if I were you.

Send it back. INSURE IT.

And remember to mark it as a return.

Plus call them to confirm.

Well, I'm still willing to give Wested a try. I just ordered a ROLA in washed goat to replace my Nowak Raiders. Although a fantastic jacket and obviously more SA, I've never been quite comfortable withe fit of my Nowak. I know Wested isn't many people's favourite these days, but I've personally never had any trouble with their jackets. And again, though less SA than the Nowak, I find their pattern works better on me.
Sorry to hear your jacket problem - I find it sad to hear so many negative Wested experiences these days - I hope it gets sorted.

I think if they hired good leather technicians with attention to detail, they wouldn't even need a QC person. Maybe they are overworked? Double and triple check the specs. for the order, and simply execute? In this way, you don't send out a jacket w/o a storm flap, etc....?

These type of suggestions have been put forth since I've been here (and, from what I can gauge, well before). The problem is that, apparently, no one on the other end is listening.

I agree though. You've not gotten what you ordered. Send it back. And you shouldn't have to pay for postage either way but good luck with that! Seriously.

Lets not turn this into a bashing/praising thread or a vendor vs. vendor war.

Now is not the time to start flaming back and forth.

I can't speak from experience, I've never owned a Wested but I'd send it back and make them cover shipping. I work in government sales and if something is sent wrong the shipper should cover the cost to replace and reship. It's good business etiquette 101. If they won't cover the cost to reship and fix your order then I wouldn't give them anymore of my business.

This thread has been cleaned up. Last chance to keep it on the rails, as per Mike's comment.

Thinking real hard. It's one heck of a deal. don't know if the Mrs would go for the after price. I'd have more luck with a pit full of asps!
