Dorfman help
I've currently got a Disney Indy fedora thats a medium. Someone has offered me a proper Dorfman fedora in a large for £35. I've tried it on and it doesn't quite fit right. Can anyone suggest anything I can try to get a bette fit?

Re: Dorfman help
The hats you get at Disney are Dorfmans, so it is the same hat. They do come in either wool or fur felt so that might be the only difference, and of course the obvious size difference. You can try stretching it out some with a hat jack but these Dorfmans tend to shrink with regular use. Also, just wearing the hat tends to stretch it out. But if it is too tight, it will always be too tight. You can stretch a bit but not a whole size.

Re: Dorfman help
The large sized hat just feels lose on my head and its obvious when I turn my head, it spins a little. Does anyone know how to ensure a more snug fit?
Re: Dorfman help
Typically a thin layer of open cell foam behind the hatband is used to bring the hat down to a more snug fit. It is similar to what is sold as weatherstripping. You may be able to find something like this at a local hardware or home improvement store. Just use the thinnest foam available.

Yeah, as above, it's used as "sizing tape." You can also do something as simple as putting a few folded strips of paper towel behind the sweatband.

Re: Dorfman help
thanks for your input. I've found a hat shop near me which sells foam stripping with sticky backing. I'm going to try them before I buy incase they don't fit. But i don't see why they shouldn't
Re: Dorfman help
Glad to help. Something else to keep in mind is that the foam will conform to fit your head, or smoosh down over time, so if it seems a little bit too snug after putting the sizing tape in then it will probably be okay. At least that has been my experience.Exulted Unicron wrote:thanks for your input. I've found a hat shop near me which sells foam stripping with sticky backing.
