New Custom LC Authentic Lamb Skin distressing solution

Post by bartes123 »

Hello to everyone!
Finally I made it - new LC Jacket from Wested arrive. I think it's fit quite well. What is little strange that's the colour. It is quite dark I think. The colour of my LC jacket doesn't look's like Indy's LC jacket. I read somewhere that oryginal LC jacket was made from Lambskin - if that's true can anyone tell me how to get that effect? I am thinking about some complete solution about how to do it.
Well, here's the pictures of my new jacket. Btw, what do you think - is it fit well?

As someone who has ordered 4 custom Wested jackets, one of which was a LC, I have to say I think this is the best I have seen yet! It looks darn near identical to the hero jacket (minus the shiny leather :)

Congrats on such a great jacket!

Congrats on such a great jacket!

Kyle
as someone who has studied this LC jacket for a few years now, I have to say except for the pointy collar tips. smaller collar lapels. larger pockets. triangular shaped pocket flaps. double stitched shoulders and hem stitch. its not nearly identical. ;) but it does look good! I really like it.

you could hot shower the jacket and put it on. it will take years of the jacket...

congrats!

where are you from btw?

the shiny effect goes away. it becomes more dull. you could shower the jacket to the point it is soaked and then wringe the water out. let it air dry 80% and then put it on until it is dry. the jacket will form to your body shape and the leather bloats. meaning it gets alitle thicker and stiffer. just like the original LC jacket. ;)

Hello!
#### right she is a little too shiny. But 165 pounds I pay for her is like 1/3 of my months payment, and I have a wife and 2 little girls. So taht is helluwa money to me. Can i made some damages to the jacket while showering her? Is it risky operation?
Perhaps someone of you have a pictures befor and after showering? Wouldn't she shrink too much?
And what shall i do - wear that jacket and go take shower? For how long? And how would I know if she is in 80& dry? How long would it take to wear her till she will be completely dry? Well, I am asking about it, because if I do something wrong and that jacket become piece of trash my wife will kill me...
Anyway - still waiting for some tips and photos.
Again sorry for my english, hope it wasn't that tragic.

Bartec,

no worries . water wont hurt the jacket. it will shrink alittle but that is not a bad thing. it would shrink over the years of use anyways due to the bodyheat and rain. so you are jsut hurrying up the process by giving it a shower.

shower the jacket with warm water to the point it is soaked. then let it airdry not hot air dry. just normal room temperature. wehn the jacket is dried to the point were it is damp then put it on and go outside to let it dry to your body shape.

when the jacket is 100% dry it will feel alittle stiff and you probably will think 'what have i done.' but no worries. the leather will go soft and relax again. I think you will love the outcome. you will get nice screen accurate wrinkles all over and most of the shine is gone.

to see before/after pic. do a search and type in ''shrink'' youl get a few threads about it.

Thats a nice looking jacket, Bartes. If you are unsure about doing the water treatment, there is no harm in just simply wearing the jacket and letting it naturally distress over time and wear. Wear it ....'old fashioned way'...to reference the line of dialog in Crystal skull. ;)

Well, I'm pretty convince now. Mister Holt, sorry for my, maybe, silly another questions. Shall I wet jacket outside only or inside to? You know - if I wear her and take a shower (let's say about 2-3 minutes will be enough?) it will be wet outside rather than both sides? And finall question - how long does it take to dry her - one day, three days? You have mentioned that she will shrink. That is so good, when we are talking about sleeves. But I'm affraid that back and front are quite long enough for me - what should I do to avoid shrinking in there?
Again, I;m very sorry if you find my question dumb or silly. Just trying to make all clear, so all operation will be good and safe, for both my jacket and my wife, who certainly will gone wild if anything goes wrong.
Kinda regards

you dont need to wear the jacket in the shower. just fill the sink with water until its soaked. you will also notice that the water will turn brown. do not worrie. its just exces color that is getting out.

I dont know how long it takes to dry. couple days maby. 3? who knows? but when the jacket is almost dry (damp) put it on and wear it. the front and back panels should not shrink that much. alittle. but most in the back. and sleeves those will shrink the most.

but.... DO NOT PUT IT ON A HANGER WHEN WET.

just lay it on a couple towels on the floor.

The other process would be to simply put the jacket on a hanger, zip it and turn on the shower head. You can wet the outside of the jacket without getting most or all of the liner of the jacket wet. I've closed the handwarmer pockets with tape also. Towel dry and put in the dryer.

Well, it really looks not bad as for now. But there's something - finally, while watching my poor jacket, i found the finall effect that could satisfied me - remove that strange shining, shrink sleeves and front for a little and rather avoid too much wrinkles. Let us all hope it will finally happened to my jacket. Well, the weather forecast says there will by a nice, almost summer weather tomorrow. Should I dry the jacket outside? Or simply left it in the basement?

Kinda regards

Drunk almost as my loved jacket

He's got room to play with, he'll be fine.

Dislike the slow dry method. Perfect recipe for mildew.

Plus we are talking about Poland at Easter, not going to break any high temperature records.

Hello everybody in that nightmare blog;]
Pictures made 18 hours after submerged...

MOD EDIT

In this moment I lost my nerves and weare that jacket - well she is wet, and cold and have still the same size (maybe it will shrink later)
And last pictures - 24 hours after submerged - I put towel inside the jacket - perhaps It will help in drying faster. And the window in basement is still open, so the fresh spring air commin all the time.

So, honestly guys - whatya think - it is better than in original?

Bartes

Ps - if my wife even have a tiny idea about what I did (she still lived in sweet unawareness...) I would spend a couple of nights with my jacket in the cold basement with window opened...

Mister Holt!
Can you specify the moment of shrinking tje jacket in this whole operation? Shall it start at the biggining, or at the end of the drying process??
From about 2 hours the jacket is in regular room, not anymore in the basement. I'll try to wear her tomorrow or wait another 24 hours.

yes. it starts right about 3.5 seconds after the you soaked the jacket in a bath with 90 degress. and should continue to shrink about 00.57mm each second from there on.

come on man, what and who do you think I am?

all I know it worked for many, many, many, many people myself included. just start wearing it and let it dry and comfort to your body shape.

Thanks gentelmen. It wasn't that bad. But I didn't sleep with that jacket, it was quite unconforteable. And wet. And cold. But i wear her a lot till she dry complete. So the photos:

Image

Well, sorry, but I will put rest of the photos while I'll back home. My #### computer in my stupid office is so blocked that sending a picture on imageshack is like freaking mirracle. Sorry for that.
Well, I can only said, that all that operation take a very good effect on that jacket. It is not that much wrinkled, but not shiny like before. It shrink a little on sleeves and unfortunatelly on back, but I can live with it - won't wear it in winter time anyway.
Well, I hope you like it. Next pictures soon.

And that will be all for now. Pictures are taken inside with lamp - the colour is quite darker in real. I'll try to make some more photos outside in sun.
I am so glad and happy, that everything with the jacket is ok, and you like the effect.
But
I am thinking of shrinking only the sleeves this time. But perhaps, the jacket fit enough on me...

In my opinion that jacket fits me better than before. And it is not that much wrinkled, which is good. Now it is time to adjusted that jacket to my body ( that would take a couple of years I think). I played a hunch and it worked. You can use an eraser to distress a jacket, especially one with "naked" hide, like novapelle, and it will give you the same effect as sandpaper, without the harmful effects of cutting the thread. Unlike, sandpaper, you can go right over the stitches and it will not cut them. Try it sometime.

Hello Everyone!
It's been almost a month since the submerged incident, and here i back with more pictures of my new "old looking" jacket. I can only say one thing - if it wasn't for my wife (who still hope she didn't make a life mistake and marry clown), I surely would sleep in it.... I love it.
Now I am trying to convince her, that I would look nice in the hat, but she needs time (a lot of time) so for now, i will keep my hat in my job (after I would buy it... - she really start looking on my money)
And so there are pictures (19 of them with new camera, without a light) - 11 of them are normal (as my jacket fits me) and the rest are "action pictures" so you may see if it fits already that good as I think (btw can someone give me some hints how to use photoshop - some part of my body looks quite too big for rest of it... - too many beers)

MOD EDIT: after 2 notification from 2 different mods, pictures were taken down. your allowed to have 6 pics and 6 links. if you want to show of more pcis create and offsite gallery. Thank you!

Now, four next pictures make me think if everything is ok with fitting. While putting my hands in the air I fell that the jacket "don't like that". Still, I have no interest in putting my hand in the air over and over again, but it is odd. But what you think? Have a look:

And some "In action" photos

Well, I must say, that some of that pictures could be mine wallpaper, but still i have my poor wife's nerves on my head. Let's her hoped that her husband is normall guy :-$
And so, what you think?
Wested can made a very good jacket, if only you give them specific dimensions.

yours
Bartes
