10ft nylon Indy bullwhip in gold, very SA!

Post by tomek9210 »

Hi guys, this is my newest whip, 10ft nylon in gold (it's from Ubraidit btw). Awesome color for Indy whip, when it's about nylon whips.

Construction: shot loaded core, two bellies - 8 and 12 plt, 16plt overlay. So standard. Now about SA things:
- color - IMHO that's the best color for Indy whip, looks almost like natural tan roo.
- weight - that's a monster, it weighs 900g ~ 2lbs, really good weight for Indy whip
- measurements - 21 to 22mm taper on handle, 22mm on widest part of thong, turkshead is
1.8" x 1.77", a bit bigger than whip on Indy Gear site has, but it covers 100g of lead ;)
- 6plt wrist loop
- leather fall - that one is redhide, as I have good distributor nearby; I think leather falls are
the best falls in universe, it's possible to make similiar in weight nylon fall, but leather one
slaughters it in wraps, nylon fall isn't "wrapable"

Last one shows it in natural light and no flash.
What do you think guys? It'll show up in Cairo Bazaar soon.

That gold looks similiar to natural tan roohide (check Bernardo's or Joe's website)
It's more SA than tan color paracord, which looks like this http://www.nylon.whips.pl/indy2.html

Fantastic Job tomek9210! :notworthy:

I like the look of that one and especially the fact that you included a normal fall instead of nylon. It made such a difference in handling on my karaka when I changed mine over. Just seems to give a better "focus" to the flow of the whip, if that makes any sense.. ;)

Crack On! :whip:

The Man with the Golden Whip! Sounds like a movie title ! Seriously, I think it looks great. Something quite unique. I wouldn't mind having one in this rainy weather we've been getting 'round here...
Cheers

Great job Tomek!

I think the gold does get closer to the overall tone of a natural tan leather then the actual tan paracord does (it looks kinda gray to me). However, it still has that sheen that only paracord gives off.

This is just a theory, but, I think if the gold paracord was givin a bath in melted parrafin wax, it would look even closer to a natural tan leather.

Some nylon whip makers wax their whips, some don't.
Personally, I've never used one that had been waxed, but they sure do look nice.

I saw one of the Rhett Kelly's gold whips that was dipped in paraffine, and I don't think it looks more similiar to natural tan roo then. It has darkened a lot.
