Custom ROLA has arrived!

Post by Ravenswood »

Higher thread count than the OTR, and the stitching is dead straight. The lining is tougher than the OTR, and also fits into the shell more snugly, so the jacket slips on nicer.
I'm loving the pockets! Those dimensions seem very screen accurate to me. I was afraid I was gonna get the larger sized pockets, and I wasn't going to specify any measurements because I didn't want to run the risk of upcharging for special requests. The straps are certainly high enough. Not much higher than my OTR straps though. Maybe by a couple of millimeters at best.

The sleeves are JUUUST long enough. If they ride up too much, its all over :? But I'm just gonna have to hope for the best on this one. I am impressed enough with the overall fit and construction, that this puppy stays. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking. :)

you know, after all this @#$% I have been thru with them im glad you have what you wanted.

congrats!

edit: soak the sleeves,. start pulling on them from the elbow and down. and pull the cuff. do this constantley. you probably can get a full inch out of them. its stretchy lambskin afterall. I did it. and they are perfect now. but be carefull to not pull to hard. just enough so you feel they start to give.

Agreed. Those sleeves worry me, but if you're happy, WE'RE happy! :M:

Like Michaelson, the sleeves worry me as well. Would be a shame if they prove to be problematic down the road, as the rest of the jacket looks very nice.

If I were you I'd definitely give Holt's advice a try! Any extra length you can get out of the sleeves won't hurt in the long run.

Thanks guys!
Yea, I have had prior experience with short Wested sleeves, and I have done the stretching thing, with good results. I want to be EXTRA careful to do it evenly and gradually. One thing I don't want to compromise is that awesome ripple effect. I'm kind of riding the fence in terms of sending it back as I really don't care to go through the rigormorall and waiting *the waiting is the hardest part*.
Funnily enough, I even asked for an extra half inch on my sleeves, based on my OTR model. I figured I was heading something off at the pass... But as it turns out, I think the shoulders are less wide, making up for that extra half inch (and then some)...moving right along.
My jacket is a 38 reg. The chest measures 44 inches. You can see the extra leather right under the pits. When I tug at the side panel seams to close it in a bit, BAM...more of the Raiders (raven bar) look. Nice and snug. (Also more like my ROLA OTR) I'm tempted to take it to the tailors and have them take it in a little.
Wested REALLY wants to fit the general public. You order an off the rack regular, you get a long. (can't we all just get along  sry!)
You order a custom regular, you get an oversized...Yes I realize we are not all blessed with short torsos and a slim build, but who says that we're gonna wear these things anyway? We may just decide to put them on display...in a museum...but that's another story! :whip:

Raven, in my honest opinion your jacket is too big in the chest, and the sleeves too short. Did you ask for that sleeve length? If not why mess with trying to stretching them? Send it back and get something one is correct. This was even a Custom, so should fit you better then an otr.
But, if you are completely happy with it all is good.

Rats...what a pain in the a.
This is going to require lots of meditation...and lots of working myself out of the denial that I have comfortably built up over this jacket.
Bummer...I shall ruminate...
