Fedoraraiders, since both you and LLS say you took a lot of inspiration from the "exterior temple" hat it is not that strange that they look alike ;)

Great job on replicating the SOC hat! :notworthy:

Regards, Geert
Thanks for your comment and i like your opinion.

My inspiration come of the "Interior" of the Peruvian Temple, Well of Souls and Raven Bar but i know that the hat in the "exterior" of the Temple was blocking with the same block by Swale. After wachting Raiders several time in slow motion, it's my conclusion. I think that is also a logical deduction because the similitude.

Yep, language barriers can cause a misunderstanding. I never meant anything negetive at all fedoraraiders! Not at all!

And, after rereading one of your posts, thanks for the invitation!!! I may very well take you up on it one day, after I retire and get time to do something other than to make hats. I have a couple guys I want to meet that live in Canada, and now I have added one more! :D

Now, let this old cuss get out of the way, so you can carry on. :D I look forward to seeing happy customers posting pics of their hats here from you. High regards. Fedora

A quick note before I respond to the quote above:
Yesterday I realized I was nearing my 1500th post!
(Small to some folks, I realize... but still a FIRST for me!)
So, today I've been trying to decide which Thread to make this kinda' special - to me, at least - Post on because I wanted it to be a Thread that I consider to be very special.
Well, for me, simply saying that I'm looking forward to being one of fedoraiders happy customers is maybe the most appropriate thing I can say (and best place I can say it) that makes this little milestone a special one...
Y'see, since joining C.O.W. I've read a lot of interesting (and strange) things, "met" a lot of great, unique people and learned enough info and opinion to accumulate a pretty decent assortment of fine Gear...
fedoraiders amazing Streets of Cairo Herbert Johnson is another wonderful contibution to this hobby (passion) and I'm proud to say I'll be a customer of his!

So, officially... here's the heart of my 1500th Post:

And I, for one, look forward to being one of those customers, Steve!
:D

Thanks my friend for your good comments!

Mitch LaRue Congradulation for your 1500 posts and thank you to doing your post #1500 in my thread, it's fun and i appreciate.

Solojedi For the shirt, lokk this post that i made in the last August

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the t-shirt, it's my own t-shirt that i made with a printer kit, ideal for made your own t-shirt. I drew the Raider of the Lost Ark logo on a white paper and after, i scan the logo and i print with a special paper for the shirt. I bought this printer kit from Wal-Mart.

It's not a joke, i work on this t-shirt approximately 8 hours. I'm a lite bit crazy, lol. No it's just a passion and i'm very perfectionist. I love this shirt.

I did not have my drawing logo, i think that my little child plays with my drawing and i never see my drawing but it's easy to draw the logo, it's just very long.

Look my pictures.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have just 2 Raiders of the Lost Ark shirt because it's too long to make this. On pictures, my shirts is good but in true it's not perfect because it,s hard to put the letters in straight line, LOL.

Tundrarider Thanks again for you message, it's very fun to read your message, you are a realy good guy and Mitch too.

Sorry for this short message, i work full time this week-end, 12 hours by day. It's very long and dool to work the week-end in the tire shop.

Hello everyone!
I would like to give you the news of my hats project. I received my order from Herbert johnson and now, i start the production. I have approximately 20 hats to promise, a dozen for the COW, 5 hats for the other forums and 3 or 4 for my country.

I build these hats by priority and i will contact you when i start the building of your hat and i will contact you again when your hat will be finish and for the payment. You pay just when i finish your hat and when i'm ready to ship your hat, no before. For the payment, i prefer Paypal and for shipping, i prefer take a insurance with a tracking number for our security but i do not know if you will pay the custumer charge???

In January, i will make 3 hats and i will ready to ship these hats after my travel in February, around February 15. I'm really impatient to sell my first hat. I beleive that i need approximately 4 months to built 20 hats.

I take this opportunity to wish you Happy New Year to all.

Thanks!

This is VERY exciting!
Right from the very first time I saw the hats you were wearing (and learned how skilled you were with making a hat bend to your will) I began looking forward to THREE things:
- When you would be able to offer these beautiful hats for sale (Which has now happened!) :)
- When you would announce that you were about to begin work on these hats (Which you've just done!) :D
- And when I would eventually receive my hat from you, hold it in my hands, wear it on my head and get a few photos taked wearing it! (This part, of course, is still a little way off... but it's exciting to know that it IS coming!) \:D/

THANK YOU for the update, Jason...
All the Best of Luck & Good Fortune to you with all of this.
I hope that all your hard work and effort is rewarded many times over.

Hello Mitch, i start your hat today. I received your email and it's ok for your head size. You will be my first customer.

Jason

P.S. I will watch the forum but my priority is the making of the hats.

Hello everyone! Thanks for goods comments.

I understand the situation. I think that is not a good period for anyone after Christmas. The Christmas periode is very expensive.

Because i don't want your cash now, me too I'm trying to pay my order for it by selling stuff, Lightsaber, Aragorn Sword etc.

With the exchange of money, Tax and customs charge, the material becomes me very expensive and i'm afraid to take more 30 hours by hat. It's the reason for the high price of my hats and I realize that this is not the same thing to make a hat for a customer, especially with my illness (Perfectionist).

It's for these reasons too that i don't want the cash now, i don't want the additional pressure.

Hello djd! I don't put the complet name list by respect for my future customer who are in other forum and who are in my country.

But djd and DarenHenryW, I start your hats approximately between February 15 and March firt and i need 1 month to make your hats. Don't worry, I will contact you by private message for more info and i will give you my personal email.

I make the hats by chronological order that i received your interests. I remember that Mitch was the first who sent me her interest for my hat.

I received 2 cancellations and i receive 3 news orders but don't worry my friends, these new orders will go after your orders.

I'm realy realy impatient to see you with my hats but it's a very long process to make a SOC version.

Thanks for your patient with me and my bad english.

Hello everyone!

I'm back of my vacation to Riviera Maya. I was with my family and of course with my HJ Fedoraiders.

I wore my hat for 7 days under the hot sun and humidity and the felt has not shrunk, i think that is the good felt.

Now I continue the making of hats and I hope that my 2 first hat will be ready this month, I hope.

If you want to see the another pictures of my hat in the vacation, look this link in the scrapbook section.

This is my personal search and just for you know, i'm in this forum since only one years and before this periode, i don't know the english language.

What is the problem, I make this search there more 2 years.

Penman, Garisson, Delk, you are not gods.

Don't worry, i don't have your experience but it's possible that a French Canadian can make a success of something.

Please, i don't continue this conversation with you because i'm tired.

Fedoraraiders, I am not sure why you seem to have ill feelings towards me, LLS and John. Perhaps it is hard to break into this Indy fedora business, and you think it's our fault. That is not the case. It is just the nature of the beast. At the end of the day, your success will solely depend upon your hats, and nothing else. But, posting remarks as you have done, aimed at us, won't help you out in the long run.

I did not read what John read in this...but if true.....
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but Garrison and Delk are the two who discovered the asymmetrical blockshape.
Yeah, LLS noticed it first on a vintage HJ, I had sent to him a few years ago, and used this to create his own blockset for the Raiders fedora. I even made a lengthy post about this last year. The record will show that.

Learning about the Raiders fedora required using other people's endeavors. I used Swales, the hats he made later on, as well as other hatters that helped me out. I have always given them credit. And always will. I even gave alot of credit to the members here on COW in my own hatmaking, as I gleaned info from some here over the years, like Pyro, who I think made the very first hat block, while being member here. Dalexs taught me how to do the ribbons. My own history involves alot of other people is all I am saying.

For some reason you have gotten the idea that we are keeping you down, going by the "gods' remark. And the remark that a French Canadian is capable of making hats too, as if someone has told you, that no one from Canada was capable of making a hat. I have never seen that posted here, and not sure where you get this idea from. It seems to come from the thin air! I don't get it.

I think the other hatters here would tell you, your line of hats will determine if you do well. The hats that we make stand on their own. As yours will. I just don't see the neccessity of flaming us, in your endeavors. Or seemingly having hard feelings towards us. We certainly have none towards you, although if you take credit for something someone else did first, that might cause some contention. Not that you have, just saying.

The bottom line is ths. If you make and sell a hat that gets great reviews, you will continue to sell hats, regardless of me, LLS or John. I hope your fully understand this. I wish you good luck! I wish you the best. And hope you understand that I am not against you. You have put in the time, and deserve to sell your vision of the Indy fedora. Fedora

What is the problem, I make this search there more 2 years.

Penman, Garisson, Delk, you are not gods.

Don't worry, i don't have your experience but it's possible that a French Canadian can make a success of something.

Please, i don't continue this conversation with you because i'm tired.

I have no idea what John said has to do with your response. He is spot on, from what I read on your post in that link. You give the impression that you discovered the asymetrical block shape. Even if you came of it independently, you must give credit where credit is due and the credit there goes to LLS (and Fedora if I'm not mistaken).. You seem to have a difficult time accepting the success of other hatters. You say you are a fan of Steve, yet you stated that there is a dictatorship of hatters and now are now mocking Steve, John, and David. I don't understand where this animosity is coming from. The language barrier has nothing to do with this. There are many members on COW to whom English is a second language. I am one of them. You just seem very angry about something I cannot understand. Steve, John, and every other hatter on here, I'm sure, is happy to see you open your doors because that means less wait time for them. Everyone loves friendly competition.

And to your statement, no, Steve and John are not gods, but they have certainly come a long way. Both Steve and John have worked their ##### off to get to where they are and no one should take that away from them. Steve and John OWN this forum because the people love their hats, the service they receive, and the hatters themselves.

Jason is correct in saying "Penman, Garisson, Delk, you are not gods." but we all know the ancient mayans could have taken them for Gods.
It is clear to me that they are interdimensional beings and hatmaking knowledge is their treasure. Everyone watch CS tonight and you will see I'm on to something! :rolling:

Please, please binkmeisterRick, I try to explain the situation, please don't erase this

Since 3 years, I work on this projet. One years ago, I was not on your forum and I work home alone. I very proud of the work that I accomplish since 3 years.

Last years, I showed a other of my hat on your forum and Steve reply this: ( Another terrific looking SOC fedora! But even this hat, on the wrong head would not look the same as it does on you. I hope everyone here understands that. Your facial shape is similiar to Ford's. There used to be another guy on here, who no matter what brand he took, the always pulled off the look better than most. Not taking anything away from you fedoraraiders.)

I was very disappointed by this and to justify myself and I put the pictures of my father with my hat.

When I made my official annuncement, Steve reply ( Welcome to the hatmakers club ) and one week after he reply: ( You know, I went and watched the U tube vids, and this block looks to be identical to LLS's block. I have an intimate knowledge of LLS's hats, and its a dead ringer, block shape wise. You copy LLS's work? )

You copy LLS's work, Please, imagine how I could feel myself after this message. I'm not frustrated or jealous because I had more respect for these hatters but after all this. I think that i'm normal, I try to start my little business and He tries to put doubt on my work. I beleive that It's not correct.

I hope that I clarify the situation and sorry for my bad words, sincerely.

Now i stop this conversation

You kept saying you didn't wish to continue the conversation, yet clearly, and after repeated warnings, that does not seem to be the case, hence, it's time to close this one down.
