I thought i'd finally post some pics of my AB Deluxe, I can't tell you how much of an excellent job Marc did on it.

Bullit, that is one nice hat, very lucky you got one of those now they cost $800 USD just to get one. I could maybe get one once the Euro comes down enough or Marc lowers his price, which I highly doubt since he uses the best on his hats. I own a AB Henry grey and is just a great hat. I am still awaiting the AB I ordered from Steve it has been over 2 years I ordered late January 2008, but I also paid with check so I may be down on the list. So I hope I get my hat soon. I don't want to bother Steve though he probably is still working on Dec 07 orders maybe still. Very nice hat though. Thanks for sharing.

Hopefully I will get to post some pics of my AB Dlx on here soon... since Marc is working on it right now!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SO excited!!! This was actually the very first hat I have ordered! So it's been a wait... but I am sure it will be MORE than worth it!

By the way- I must say this. Dealing with Marc has been EXTREMELY pleasant! I know he creates the Adventurebilt Deluxe... but I think his service is EVERY bit deluxe as the hat itself! He is truly a GREAT guy... so much so I would not hesitate to order from him again (when the funds become available- of course!).

Hey Chris, I think I am pretty lucky, I had a two year wait for my Deluxe and Marc came through big time. It fits perfectly and the look of it is also in proprtion, as im a size 54. My previously purchased Akruba and Peters Brother's seem to have a too large brim for my height and head size. No such problem with the AB, it's spot on!

Yup you are very lucky. "You've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky, well, do ya, punk??" ;) If you know the movie I'm talking about then you might get that. But as far as my AB I figure I may not get it till summer most likely. I am sure Steve has many hats still to make. So patience is key. I have been patient these 2 years, I had pretty much forgotten about it for a while actually. I have a big head, so not a problem on proportions, plus really any custom hatter like Marc, Steve, John, etc. They are going to do the best they can to make the hat look good on you. Well honestly I can't wait for my AB to arrive, but good things come to those who wait.

I own many of Steve's wonderful hats ... but I have to say that everyday I stare at the one below. It is an actual KOTCS Harrison worn production hat:

http://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu35 ... G_0062.jpg

Don't worry, I keep in the plexiglass case (only took the cover off to take that picture), keep it out of direct sunlight, and the room it is in is always 68 degrees ...

This is the 6 7/8 Beaver Raiders that Steve was kind enough to offer me. This fedora was sitting in storage since he made it late last year. Has his original components and is Steve's original raiders block. Lighter shade of brown than the standard AB offering but I'm quite pleased! Thanks a million for this one Steve!

I just got around to taking some pics of my christmas present. I had an order for a Penman hat to wear at my wedding in december, but hit some hard times and had to cancel the order since money was and still is tight. My wife felt really bad that I had to cancel the hat order (and i was pretty upset as well) and told her family that a great present for me would be to for them all to pitch in and order me the grey hat I had to cancel. So with limited info she sneaks onto my COW account and does some searching for the only hat she knew of, Adventurebilt and saw that Steve had his new rabbit hats up for order, and that she could order one in time for christmas! So with some well placed questions as to size and using my email to contact Steve, I opened up my present at her family's house and with great surprise saw a familiar white box!

and my other two ABs...
http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m94/ ... 010960.jpg

I still plan on placing an order for a Penman raiders grey as soon as I have the extra cash, but for now this grey hat will have a very special place in my heart!

This was my rationalization as well...the money will be back. I'm very lucky in our hard times.

Allright, guys! I just got my first ever Adventurebilt!

It's a Raiders in Rabbit! Steve got it to me just about 6 weeks!

It's smaller in the brim than I would have liked, but as I told Steve in a private email, it certainly fits my face and looks very rational on me. I still want a Raiders hat that captures the sense of caricature (John, are your reading this?), which I feel means a larger brim, but this is a hat I can wear out on the town, without feeling like I'm a cartoon character, which is certainly how I felt about my old (now sold) Herbert Johnson!

What do you guys think?

I quite agree that it looks good on me. I think it looks GREAT on me, to tell you the truth! I trust Steve, for sure! He built a hat for ME, there is no question of that! But I think for a Raiders hat, the brim seems a little small. I can say with %100 confidence that the brim is much smaller than either of the brims of my two Penmans.

But as I said, I will wear this proudly because I know its a perfect match for my face, head size, etc. But John is going to have the task of building me a Raiders Beaver that brings out more of the caricaturistic aspects of my idea of a Raiders hat; that is to say, Steve's hat is too perfect. I want a hat with a bit more exaggeration. Does this make sense?

Yes, that makes perfect sense. This is why we have more than one hat. You always want one that will suit just you and then you want that one that screams the look your looking for! If however you were cast in the role of Indy for Raiders, they might have selected this type of hat for you as it fits you like a glove. You are right in saying it looks great on you!
Hey, let's face it.... you can never have enough hats! I too, have orders with Steve, John, Jason, Marc to capture all the screen looks I desire. :D

What's the specs on it?

On the front, the brim is 2 and 5/8 inches, whereas on my Penman Raiders Gray its 2 and 3/4, and on my Penman LC, its about 3 inches. The LC wasn't made for me, and I admit, it is a little on the big side for me, but I still like it.

2 and 3/4 is what it says on the Indygear main page. I think that will be the specs I will ask John to make for me, to which I'm sure he'll agree, since that's what he did for the Gray.

I see what you mean. In every shot the hat looks great on you but shown from above the brim looks slightly smaller compared to the crowns height, which could be just an optical illusion from the pic. It's hard to tell without the hat before you. :-k

OK, the small pic on the bottom left looks like the target match to me. For your face I guess thats the look he went for. Which, is a great look brother! The larger brim would have worked well on you I think too, based on other lids, I have seen you wear. :TOH: I myself always liked the toolbox theme. You open it up and take out the lid you need for the look your going for on that particular day.. This hat will fit nicely into such a toolbox. I too, would also want have a larger brimmed one in there as well. Which is why our quest is never complete.... There is always another piece of gear to get

Daren,

What's your hat size? Steve makes adjustments to the brim specs in proportion to the hat size, maybe that's why your brim is a bit smaller.

Regardless, fine looking hat!

I definitely see what you mean. As mentioned, your hat looks like the small picture on the left. However the smallest picture just ABOVE the bottom one, with the title IJ on it, definately has a bigger looking sweeping brim. That's the look I imagine your shooting for.

To me what stands out is the appearance of a shorter, slightly tapered crown. You probably want Steve's old block, and that would be my preference as well (HINT), but based on the pictures you provided, I think he did a good job (Daren's hat).

Wow. This is a case of where a small sized hat DOES NOT need a smaller brim. Due to the facial shape. I don't like the way it looks. Send it back, and I will replace it with one that has a larger brim. I can't stand it. And it won't be the first time I insisted on changing out a hat either. I have done so in the past. Sometimes you miss it on the specs, and this is one case that I missed it big time. Plus, I want to see you in a AB that looks "right". This one is bad for PR! Fedora

On second thought, keep that one, for something else.(I sure can't use it) I am making you a different one. It goes on the block Monday. Fedora
