Variations in Cooper/US Wings jackets

Post by CM »

We often joke about how Wested can't do the same jacket twice, but it's also interesting to note how many variations the Cooper and later the US Wings jackets have had over the years. With the latter companies the iterations have been more consistant and the changes belong to a model and date, rather than a series of accidents as the Wested versions appear to be.

Since Cooper has played a much more serious jacket role than we at first suspected I'd be interested to see if someone could post and catalogue these variations and include Wings which took over Cooper products.

The Disney jackets came in various styles, for instance. I've seen different pockets and windflaps. Even in the US Wings series, the website shows jackets with pockets that are way smaller, with deeper pocket flaps than you can actually get these days.

Also interesting to see that while Cooper did ToD film jackets, their fan jackets, although similar, were far from identical to the film version. And they gradually became even less accurate.

This is not a go at anyone, just an observation I'd like to see followed up by people who have a better grasp than I on the subject.

I understand that the explanations for the changes were probably brought about by fan suggestions - that doesn't make the journey any less interesting.

Here is an older Cooper/USWings. I understand it is a Cooper labeled USWings. Apparently before Wings took over Cooper, Cooper made jackets for USWings (labeled USWings). This one is made of striated Shrunken lamb.

That's cool RC, thanks. Dig those SA violating but traditional extra seams.

Does anyone have any photos of the cotton pepsi promo jackets they made in '89? I haven't seen them in 20 years and sometimes forget that I even had a couple of them. I'd be interested if they looked anything like the leather jackets.

They show up on eBay from time to time, but I've never saved a photo.
Cooper made those?

There was also a Levi jean jacket with Temple of Doom embroidered on the back. they show up from time to time too.

I think they were made by cooper, not sure, along with a "Last Crusade" safari shirt around the same time...
