there's something odd about the brim. when i snap the front down it pops up near the crown, making a sort of shallow S shape.

What's up with that?

Sweet lid!
The brim thing is not uncommon with vintage hats. I can't recall the explanation for why that happens, but you shoudl be able to correct it with steam or water and patient work.

Hi, nice hat...
Could you tell its brim's width, ribbon's width & Crown height.
Thanks in advance! (Just want to compare it with the Clipper hat)

That is just the flange job is all. Normal, and desired when this hat was made. Good catch. Resistol made some really fine hats back in the day. Fedorathere's something odd about the brim. when i snap the front down it pops up near the crown, making a sort of shallow S shape.

Thanks Steve; I wasn't aware of this. Will it even out with time? I'm not too fond of the effect to be honest. for the short while it stays down properly it has a very pronounced transition from back to front, very attractive to my eye.
Chewie, thanks, but given the newness of this lid, i'd like to try and work it dry before resorting to H2o.
Odo, the crown looks to be around 5 3/4" open, the Brim 2 5/8" all around, and the ribbon is 1 3/4"
