Tony Nowak Last Crusade Jacket

Post by damian della morte »

I have already found some useful info with the COW search engine but the emphasis seems to be on TN Raiders jackets, it would be great to see more photos and opinions on TN LC jackets. I called Tony last week I was really impressed by his knowledge and willingness to work with me to find the perfect jacket for me, i will post pictures of the finished jacket once i have it. I already have a TN CS for sizing.

i own indy jackets from most makers and in my opinion tonys stand out far ahead of the pack in craftmanship and material, the part of the jacket that stands out to me the most about the LC jacket is the collar, (thick 3 or more inches, slightly rounded, no taper from front to back, short collar stand) that can make or break the jacket

Tony makes a great LC imo. I have a thread on my jacket floating around as does Tundraraider (who has a great modified LC). Han Jones and others have Nowak LC threads as well.

That's got to be one of THE best LC jackets I've ever seen...looks like you took the jacket straight from the Smithsonian, lol!

BTW - What is the asking price for a LC jacket just like this from Tony?

Tony's price for the LC is $750.00 (USD) in the KOTCS dark cow hide. Other leathers like the Italian cow is more $975.00 (I think) IMO though I think the KOTCS dark cow is the best looking for this jacket. Tundraraiders and Crismans are both dark cow hide. Hans is the other. ($975.00)

Here is a price link:

I like Tony's LC jacket, but I still haven't seen him replicate the floppy collar. The collar looks like it's capable of the look, but it doesn't have the curl from the movie in any of the photos. It could be that only lambskin does that.

More likely the collars are just still 'new'

Tony got back to me and sent me some pictures of a jacket, the collar was larger in this jacket, i asked for a very thick collar and i will send him some pics tonight, i dont really want to send measurments i found on the site, i dont think it would be wise, dont tell a master chef how to make an omlette

By "thick" collar do you mean width (from collar stand outward) or the actual thickness of the leather?

yes that can be taken 2 ways, i meant the width of the collar(from collar stand outward), if you look at the movie jackets think the large collar is one of the main characteristics of the of the LC jacket, but i dont know what gives it that feel, a short coller stand? maybe thin leather ](*,) it looks like the collar of the jacket that Tony showed me in his e mail is very close to dead on (the closest ive seen) and that's a thick cow hide, as a matter of fact the whole jacket looks pretty dead on

Very cool. I don't think the LC has a shorter collar stand than Raiders or TOD. I'm pretty sure its longer, by at least a quarter inch. Holt did a lot of research on this. I'm curious as to whether he concurs with me.

What about width? I've always thought that the collar stand was less wide than the others.

I have the impression terms are being confused here. Seems damian della morte may be referring to the 'height' or 'width' of the collar stand (top to bottom) not the 'length' end to end.

Good call. I meant height. From looking at screencaps, I'm of the view that the LC collar stand was taller than TOD or Raiders. Same height at best, but not shorter.

sorry for the confusion, wide (not long) as in maybe 3 inches, (from the stand out), have a look at some screen shots, thats one big collar , you have a good point, i looked at some screen shots and the stand is a bit larger then the CS stand for example, well i placed the order today with tony, talked about the details of the photos he sent me, picked a number for the jacket and so on it is really great working with him, i personally am not in love with the distressing on the LC jacket so i asked him if he'd distressing it more like CS, now... the wait :anxious:

I guess I got my jackets confused! I was thinking that the collar stand on my CS was less wide than that on my LC. Looks like I need to hit the books again! ;)

At any rate, DDM, what did you ask for as far as sleeve width? While I love the overall fit of my CS, I like a more tapered sleeve so I asked for more of a Raiders type sleeve taper on my LC. I really like the fit Tony gave me.

i am leaving the sleeves up to tony,( i think every time i suggest something to tony i second guess myself) i think the sleeves may be more like the CS sleeves??? (not as form fittig as raiders or ToD) and i love the way the sleeves drap with the leather that tony used on my CS and hes using the same basic leather only darker (the CS jacket i own was perchased 2nd hand so i didnt have any say in it and its the best indy jacket i own) i cant figure out how to post the pics i have of it yet

I have a few Questions . I have bean looking at these jackets for a day or two now. Ive decided to get one in the future .
Question 1. How much do these jackets run?

2. Would I be able to get one in Black ( Ether made or Lamb or goat skin)

3.What is the best material to have one made of ? Esp if it is going to be my main jacket for winters

4.how are they suppose to fit ?

How are they better than Wested jackets ? ( Did Wested make the first Indy jackets )?

Thanks

All I can say is read from this site for a week or two and build your knowledge base. Questions 2, 3 and 4 are subjective. The last one is actually two questions and could cause conflict, as product loyalty can bring out odd responses from people. Read the Indygear info on the jackets for starters and then ask whatever questions you might have left over. It's all here already.

Quote: Question 1. How much do these jackets run?

Prices Vary-
KOTCS Dark Cow hide $675.00
Other leathers $750.00
Shrunken Lamb $975.00 (Raiders)

Best to call Tony himself and ask these questions. :whip:
